Reviews
Coldplay is truly an awesome band to see live. The only band that I can say that comes close to them is the Smashing Pumpkins, and that was during their Mellon Collie days. Chris Martin is an incredible performer. The way he plays guitar, dances back and forth on stage, and plays the piano so enthusiastically, it really gives you a feel of emotion that flows from the stage into the audience.
I cannot remember the exact song list, but they started out with Politik, played a mixture of old and new songs, and did two encores. Also, something noteworthy, they started into "Trouble" when Chris stopped then to say, "It's a humbling experience to play songs you wrote two years ago and to have people in Oklahoma singing the words and clapping." Not his exact words, but that's pretty close. Also, when they played "Yellow" the crowd sang along and Chris even held the mic out to let us sing the chorus. Talk about chills. Also, during the encore, he broke out into some Justin Timberlake and sang the verse "I don't wanna cry no more, I'm tired of crying", which is from "Cry Me A River." Very funny, and honestly, he pulls it off better than Justin!
The crowd was not as loud as I thought it was be, then I realized that it was at the Civic Center, which only seats about 2,000 people. So in all actuality, it was pretty loud for the amount of people there, and the demand for an encore was deafening. Coldplay sounds better live, if you can believe that, than they do on the album. Chris sings exactly like on his tracks, which is something you don't see a lot of these days. He truly has a remarkable singing voice, possibly one of the best in the rock world today.
This will be a concert that I'll never forget, and if Coldplay comes back again, then you better believe I'll be there and try everything in my power, legal of course, to obtain front row tickets. If you are contemplating seeing these guys live, then do so, because if you don't, then you won't be able to experience the breathtaking experience that is Coldplay.
