Doors opened at 7.30, then at 8.30 started playing the supporting band: Saiko (chilean band). They played for half an hour until 9pm and after that, at 9.30, lights went out and The Beatles sounded for a few minutes. Finally, the show started with Square One. The stage was smaller than the Twisted Logic Tour's, i read was 19x11 meters, quite small and there weren't sidescreens or the panoramic main screen of the last tour. But the lights were the same, with awesome lights n lasers during Clocks.
The show was with numerated chair with 80 rows, and almost 70 seats per row.
Highlights:
- In "God put a smile upon your face" Chris added a line in spanish saying "a visitar la casa de Pablo" (to visit Pablo Neruda's House where he went thursday) and also saying something about going to Valparaiso (the Jewel of the Pacific, Chile's Port).
- During "Yellow" there were the big multicolors ballons with bright papers inside them.
- He also refered abour "Sparks" as a song for all the young lovers (in spanish)
- In "White Shadows" Chris was singing on the sides of the stage. On the right side, he drew a smiley face with spray upon a kind of curtain there were on the sides.
- Almost at the end of "In my place", he walked through people on the left side, reaching the row 20 and ending the song there.
- Chris spoke with a really good spanish during all the concert.
- In "Fix You" he did all the stuff with the light as in the video and at the end, he "turned off" that light clapping his hands near to it.
- Finally, they left the stage with the Beatles song "Good Night" sounding at the back.
Even not having the same infrastructure of the last tour, they offered an awesome show leaving all people screaming for more.
An amazing show for 5 thounsand people on Valentine's Day and their first time in South America.

"The show started at 9:30pm, it started a little late. There was a lot of lights and it was designed very well. They played some new songs and some expected songs. A lot of balloons came down. Chris played his piano and is very talented with both the piano and the guitar. They complied with the intimate setting they promised but didn't fail to rock out, especially with songs like God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, they improvised the guitar parts. They have a very good mix of styles. 5,000 people were present and we were all going crazy and no one was sitting in their chairs even though the guards were agaisn't that, so the public connected very well with the band.
The sound was great, it had great acoustics. It sounded impeccable. The stage looked amazing as well and aside from the pricing I really recommend it."

Coldplay kicked off their Latin American tour in true style last night, wowing 5,000 excited Chileans at the Espacio Riesco with an outstanding show. In what was essentially a large hangar, Chris and the boys set the place alight with an inch-perfect performance. As ever, Chris had enough energy on stage to power a small town (if only he could, maybe we could stop climate chaos!) and the response from the audience was spine-tingling.
And the band’s energy was equally matched by the wonderful team of Oxfam campaigners. I think by the end of the evening, all 5,000 people had read our leaflet, and nearly 500 of them had signed the Big Noise petition. With only a small team of 6 volunteers, that is an incredible effort. It just shows that no matter where they are, or what they’re doing, people will always be outraged at the injustices of world trade. It’s a long journey and sometimes a fair and just global trading system may seem an age away, but on nights like this you really feel it will happen.

well well well. i have just saw the best band, Very Happy really the show was amazing and guys thank you for came here. I always thought that i would have to travel to see you, lol.
But What happend with the audio?? I was in the seventh row and in some moment i coudn’t hear the voices and the harmonica that Guy played never sounded. Sad i spect that on friday show it’s been fixed the audio, because i’ll go again……. so see you there
Another thing!!. it was too short, just 90 minutes. I miss “the hardest part”, Why you did not play it, if is it the best song of the X&Y?? and Could you play “i ran away”…… i love it, it’s my favorite song!!
all right i’ll see you on friday. thank you.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Love is in the air here in Santiago - well, certainly amongst the throngs of fans outside the hotel. There’s a real air of excitement in the city about Coldplay being here. And the countdown to tonight’s first concert of the tour is on!
I spent this morning at the Oxfam office again, going over the final details with Monica. She is the Communications Officer for Oxfam in Chile, and is helping me with the campaigning at the concerts. Luckily, her English is far better than my Spanish so we’re doing OK! Here’s a picture of her at her desk - if you’re wondering what she’s reading, it’s today’s paper with an article about Coldplay. We were hoping that Chris would be able to meet the President of Chile, but unfortunately she’s on holiday in the south of the country so it’s not going to be possible.
I’ll go into a bit more detail over the next few days about the work that Oxfam does here in Chile. Watch this space!
