wow. that was my first concert ever. and i was in tears of joy three times during it. it was absolutely incredible. they played death and all his friends for the encore which was absolutely incredible and when lovers in japan played, butterfly confetti came down and it was just sooooo incredible. best night ever.

The band started playing at around 9:30 with Life in Technicolor... which was absolutely fantastic! The drums were incredible, it was so extremely intense... guy was wearing a red shirt with a black thing over his shoulders, and he was wearing black pants with silver stripes down the sides.... everyone else was wearing the viva la vida shirts and the pants... jonny had his hat on like the usual. will was incredible on the drums, i was SO impressed with him. Chris did a wonderful job of singing everything... they have never sounded better than they do now.

Violet Hill came right after Life In Technicolor... which was absolutely amazing. The TV balls were extremely cool... the effects that the cameras had on the band were amazing.

One thing that really made me laugh SO hard that they did is that they played someone on the news talking about how Coldplay "stole" somebody elses song (yeah, right!).... and they showed the person saying that chris martin wasn't man enough to come on the show and defend himself... THE WHOLE CROWD BOOED HIM IT WAS HILARIOUS!

before i say anything best part of the night was when they went up into the crowd and sang from by the bleachers- i almost died seeing chris martin that close they were in my section and really really close however as i mentioned my pictures suck (sorry). i loved the concert though- it was my first one so i dont have anything to compare it to but when they played the new stuff it kinda seemed, to me, that not everyone was into it. Like when they played yes and strawberry swing i was so freaking excited i could barely contain myself but from where I was not many other people were. ( i hope it wasnt like that for everyone). and the encore was really short, great, but short (they played DAAHF and then chris said -thats it) are they normally that short? Im not complaining at all and I thought they were incredible and Lost was effing amazing live- I just wish the audience around would have been into more than yellow and fix you. i may be wrong though.

Awesome show! I am exhausted and will have to get up in about five hours, but I just wanted to share some random tidbits:

Chris Martin really enunciated the "x" in "fox" in "Violet Hill."

"The Scientist" brought me to tears, since it was the first time I heard it live since we've been married (I walked down the aisle to it).

The acoustic version of "Yellow" was amazing. For those of you going to the show tomorrow, they will be going up to colonnade 5 to perform this part.

CM seemed to get a kick out of everyone singing along to "Violet Hill," b/c after the song (the second one on the set list), he said, "I can tell this is going to be a great show."

The official program ($20) contains lyrics to all songs in Viva La Vida!

All hotdog carts in the parking lot are not created equal.

Viva la Coldplay!!!

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

Being two rows away from the guys as they played Yellow and Death Will Never Conquer in the "cheap seats", as Chris called them.

Violet Hill and Viva la Vida got just as big cheers as the old standbys.

The "techno" version of GPASOYF is brilliant.

For me, the song that sounded best was Lost! There was just a nice energy about it.

As for people asking about the opening acts, they weren't anything special. They're not a waste of your time, but you wouldn't be missing too much either.

Ello. I just woke up. I was volunteering with Oxfam so I got to see the show for "free"... but we had to work our butts off though! I got seated in Colonade 34... a bit far, but hey. Srsly. Didn't have to pay for anythign but parking.

Unfortunately I have no pictures and such.

Anyway... highlights for me, in no order:

- The riff and the end of "Yes"--and all of "Yes" actually - Viva la Vida - Death and All His Friends (the screw up was funny, hehe) - The cheap seats part! (ARGH if they went to the opposite side of the venue I would've been right next to them. That pissed me off) - Will singing <3 - Chris's random rants - Meeting the Oxfam volunteers

And lowlights... which are all not really related to Coldplay: - Being rejected when asking for emails for Oxfam "Would you like to help fight poverty with Coldplay?" "No not right now." or "Did you sign up yet?"

  • dirty look*

- Everyone else sitting in their seats around me and not standing... (understandable for the volunteers though since we were standing for hours!) - Being the only one singing in my area - Not being able to sit with my sister like always - The lack of the post-concert euphoria I usually get. I don't know why--maybe it's just because I was really tired, but I felt kinda unsatisfied and depressed after the concert.

Alrighty, all I have to say is that it was amazing. I had seen Coldplay before in Irvine (2005 or 2006 I think ) and this time was better by far.

Despite the fact that our seats sucked and were in the most farthest pit of The Forum, I still enjoyed seeing the whole audience react and seeing it from a different point of view. The crowd was amazing! They were so loud and sang back every word Chris sang. And of course, Chris sang beautifully. His voice is so crisp and clear and ahhh. I love it. He did phenomenally, and of course there were a few voice crackles. But what can ya do, he's human. I actually really like his voice crackles...

Anyways, the energy and vibe was awesome and you could tell everyone was having a brilliant time. Chris was so energetic and he made us laugh and they all performed wonderfully. Will was crazy... He's such an amazing drummer. And he has a very good voice too when he sang Death Will Never Conquer. (I actually thought it was Chris singing for a moment) And Guy and Johnny are so talented and amazing. I love them all.

It was magnificent and I had SUCH a good time. It went by so fast! My favorites of the night would have to be Yellow, Fix You, Lovers in Japan, Viva la Vida, and Death and all his friends. Yellow made me want to cry... it was seriously one of the most beautiful things I ever heard. The whole entire audience was singing back and it was just amazing. It was stripped, so it wasn't as epic as the original one, but it was more calm and beautiful. I loved it.

(By the way, The Forum is a bad venue. I didn't like it. Way too steep.)

Our seats were to the very side of the stage, almost behind it (Colonnade 25, Row 23, which apparently was the very last row. We were against the wall ) In fact, we were so high up that we could see where they release the confetti, and there's stairs and walkways up in the ceiling, and we could see above that.)

And if you're going to see them anytime soon, you will not be disappointed!
