Review

Are "amazing" and "mega" the right words to describe this concert? Yes, indeed they are! This was my very first concert so I can't make comparisons but honestly it's still so difficult to me to find the right words to explain feelings and emotions... just amazing and mega (as someone we well know loves saying). At the end of the show I just wanted more and more and it seemed to me so short but actually they performed 16 songs. Here's the tracklisting:

Politik Shiver Spies Daylight Trouble One I Love Don't Panic Everything's Not Lost Green Eyes God Put A Smile Upon Your face Yellow The Scientist

Clocks In My Place Life Is For Living

Moses

It's useless to repeat for the hundredth time that Chris is a great performer. The way he dances, he jumps, he talks to the audience and makes everyone join every single song, the way he plays the piano (still can't figure out how the stool magically managed not to fall during clocks) and of course, the way he sings and interprets the songs! Marvelous, magic!

As always Johnny and Guy (Will couldn't move even if he wanted to) stayed still during the whole show, but they were brilliant; Johnny actually 'moved' a little bit more during Don't Panic, playing the harmonica and then throwing it among the public, and also during Green Eyes. I loved in particular the way they played that song, just Chris and Johnny. Then in the middle of the song Johnny played by himself, just him and his guitar performing a slightly different arrangement - perfect and wonderful! Then, the way they ended the song was really lovely. I didn't even sing along because I wanted to hear the best I could!

I also liked a lot the very last song, a new one called "Moses". All the audience remained quiet to hear this new "pearl" performed by Chris on his own. It's a very beautiful song and I'm still surprised of how many stunning melodies this group are capable of.

During Shiver (I guess, honestly I do not remember), Chris swept away the mic while jumping and running around with his guitar - hilarious Coldplay moment! Chris dedicated Yellow to a "very important girl" and Moses to "the most beautiful girl in the world" (and... was that a mobile phone on the piano?)

The audience sung along incessantly during every single song (of course except Moses) with the same intensity.

You just couldn't say if the audience preferred Politik, Shiver, Trouble, Everything's Not Lost, Yellow or The Scientist, even Life is For Living. In fact every single song was a magic moment by its own; it was like "oh, this is their best one, I'm gonna sing it at the top of my voice." It's a shame they didn't play 'A Warning Sign' or 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' and 'Amsterdam', especially Amsterdam.

Chris has a terrific gift - his voice. Hearing him live, hearing how perfect and strong he sounds. Not one wrong note despite the songs he sings are rather demanding; he can do anything he wants, he can vary from high tones to low tones in a completely natural manner. He'll soon become the new Bono...(ok, please, don't kill me for saying that!)

One last thing: at the beginning of the show we were wondering why written sheets of paper were being attached almost everywhere, even on the piano ?! Well, Chris spoke Italian all night long, Incredible! Poor him! He's been really brilliant and the audience really liked it a lot. He was so amusing and funny! Honestly I don't know how he felt while reading those sentences but when he saw that we appreciated and that we understood perfectly well everything he was saying, well, he really looked pleased-embarassed-amused that was really a nice surprise.

I also understand that unfortunately being in Italy where not everyone knows or understands English very well, performing in a total natural way communicating with the people (as he does during UK, US and northern European gigs) is very hard. Obviously he can't joke as he does with other audiences....anyway thumbs up for his Italian pronounciation. We just loved him... he is so spontaneous in everything he does!

That's all from Milan, and even if today's the 9th of December, I still catch myself daydreaming of this amazing, mega concert I saw!
