Was actually able to meet up before show with Jbella and jasmynebirch HIII(and alsomusicman1990, i think)and put some signs on the floor seats. Though I'm not sure too many people held them up duing encore
Show was of course, incredible. Though for some reason I couldn't get relaxed & totally into it until about half way through. But that's just me...so focused on taking pictures, and checking off songs from my mental setlist, that I was missing the show! But once Yellow started, forget it!!!! I just thought to the first time I heard it live back in '03, and how it still sounds beautiful every.single.time.
After that I sorta forgot about which songs were coming, and was surprised and delighted with each one that came next. I got all emotional for The Scientist--still gets me--and went crrazy for Politik! totally forgot that it's back in show, i f$@&%* love that song live! Also, didn't think they'd do TWO encores. I thought that Green Eyes and The Dubliners was gonna be a special one(two)time thing for Chicago. I felt so smurt singing along to the little chorus, . So the show in the end didn't feel short, as I usually feel after seeing Coldplay.
But I did IMMEDIATELY went into withdrawal...and my first thought as the houselights came back on was....OMG now I gotta wait until OCT to see again!! No, I want more NOOOOW!(I know, I'm spoiled, some people only get to see them one time, and here I am bitchin' about just waiting until the next time). But Coldplay is THAT addictive, and Live it's just the purest form of the drug LOL. HELP!
Though Chris wasn't as chatty as he usually is, and they didn't use those catwalk/ramps much, there were some funny moments. Early on in the show, maybe during In MY Place, there was the customary manly show of affection toward Jonny, and then dropping to the floor right in front of him at the end, so that poor Jonny's gotta help Chris back up hehe. Chris apologized for the postpontment of the show, saying that they were told that they should all get nose jobs and it was scheduled for the date back in June (paraphrasing). Also the whole explanation of the encore--"now we're gonna leave, but not really so you gotta yell really loud for us to come back, 'cause we could leave, then come back and play one more song, and then really leave. Or maybe not." (again something to that effect) Oh and right before Yellow, he said something like this is a song for those of you who remember it from 1971 when we first started...(and my friend was like, what 1971?, did he get that wrong?? LOL She's not used to Chris's sense of humor!)
So, in conclusion , Chris, Guy, Jonny, Will, have put on an awesome show once again. That was my 7th! time seeing them, and it never disappoints, and I can never get enough. THANK YOU COLDPLAY!!! and thank you to the awesome crowd that always make it so much fun to be a part of the fandom

absouluty AMAZING!!!! Let me tell you guys my story. I was coming from new york and took a bus from manhatten down here to philly. I got here at around 1030 and checked in. So i checked out the city got some pizza and went stalking. My dad and i got to the wachovia center at about 130 where we saw a black suv pulling in to the side of the wachovia center. Two of the bum security guards told us it wasnt coldplay but it definatly was because it was confirmed with the man at the private entrance booth. So then kinda bummed i went back to the hotel. We headed back to wachovia at around 430 with 500 USA still loves Coldplay signs in hand. We met up with ColdplayJoe, and Jasmyne and her mom. Then i went into the box office and found out that floor seats were still available. I was like HO-LY-SHIT! My dad bought two tickets at face in floor 5 row 6. Allright this is where it gets TOO GOOD TOO BE TRUE! Iwalk inside with my signs to find that there is a barrier and security guards between the bar and ood court and the seats. So i go over to the security guard. Let me remind you i am 13. And talk him into letting me go in to put out signs myself. I said i was with oxfam which i was. So i walk all the way down to the floor and security guards start moving out of my way like im a big star. I was the only person in the whole arena besidesthe workers. It was amazing. I got flyers all over the place the whole floor was covered with signs thanks to joe jasmyne her mom dave and me. It was too great. And i got the worker to let me put a sign on the catwalk that said sean oconnell loves coldplay.a big head security guy took it off. THE SHOW? KICKED ASS!!! best coldplay show of all time and you can quote me. LOVERS IN JAPAN WITH THE BUTTERFLY CONFETTI. POLITIK WAS NAILED THE CROWD WAS ELECTRIC DEFINITLY THE BEST SHOW.
[professa95]
The butterfly confetti was AWESOME especially the second round in UV.
I loved being maybe one of 5 people singing Will's song, and a bunch of the other ones actually. It seemed like everyone was there to listen to Yellow and Viva La Vida.
Setlist was good, I would have loved to have seen longer songs, more drawn out like on the 03 tour. Everything is really quick paced now, its intense. There wasn't Trouble But they did have Green eyes! And yeah hahah that was funny with Chris smelling the beer and refusing it.
Ohh god what did they do to God Put a Smile Upon Your Face??
Politik!!! Unexpected!! AMAZING!!!!
Lasers! were AWESOME!!!!!
Overall great show, its a new Coldplay, god bless the Live 2003 DVD.

The sound was A+. Chris, with his hair longer, reminiscent of 2002, resembled a Dickensian urchin. Albeit a 6 foot urchin. I have a few grunbles with the light show, but nothing bad to say about the band's performance.
I was in section 115. I got the ticket at the box office on the night. 17 rows from the stage. The seat wasn't available yesterday. Tonight it was. No Tickemaster fees. It's not that often I get to pay the price on the ticket.

Oh.My.God.
That was the best experience of my entire life so far. The crowd was immensely insane, and the boys were amazing!! I was iffy about hearing VLV live, because on television it didn't really seem to 'pop' like on the CD, but boy was I wrong. It was even GREATER than the CD probably. I almost cried when they came back to sing Green eyes... And Will singing Death Will Never Conquer got me almost shitting in my pants. From where I sat I couldn't catch any confetti during LIJ, but afterwards me and my friend snuck down to the floor and picked up some. When Chris introduced Jonny's solo with 'Here's my best friend Jonny Buckland' or something like that I was like awwwwwwwwww. And of course, Chris's signature crazy ass dance moves was great. Yeah, noone around me knew the words to Strawberry Swing. I was singing obnoxiously loud and no one was singing along! I was extremely pleased with the setlist, though I wish they performed COL. Nevertheless, great night and I enjoyed passing out those signs.
As this was my first concert, the bar is set high for my second one.

i reached the show after 4.Before we were allowed into the show into arena like at 7 i took a photo of mine outside the arena before going in.
and then my god you know where my seats are?????in sec 116 row 12 seats 10-9 with my hubby yeah just next to the stage. And i took videos upto scientist but shit my camera's memory card was finished after that because even though there are batteries i am unable to take pics and vids furthur.
well any way i think Chris said sorry for resheduling this date and said something like it is his fault,he fucked up,and they have to do some nose jobs.
And he came near us a lot of times again waved at us to cheer us,
said that we are an amazing audience.
I took a lot of videos Yes,42,chinese sleep chant ,gpasuyf, fix you, speed of sound, yellow, scientist(memory card was over and it was finished),clocks,in my place, strawberry swing, lost and some pics too.
i'll post all of them.
and yeah i am also a member of sign gang and printed some copies of signs and gave them to the people who sat in my section and the people front of me and i held the signs.i didn't looked at others, because i am so lost watching the show.
And yeah Chris said that we're very good audience and our reception of them in Philly is great.
and i also sanged along with Chris for most of the songs.
he said that our singing is great.
that's all.

Ok for being my first ever coldplay concert, I can't believe what I just saw. That has to be the best concert I have ever been to in my life. The band was definitily ON the whole night! Big shoutout to the sign gang becuase the band really really appreciated it, I've never seen all 4 of them bow together like that at the end of the show in any live vid I have ever seen. BTW, a security guard gave the girl next to me a copy of the setlist like 2 songs in so that was a special treat . Politik and Green Eyes were NOT on the list, but the rest of the encores were. Too bad I didn't get to keep the list but I was too nice to ask her to let me have it.
Anyway, I had such an amazing view, too bad I only got a little bit of Violet Hill on camera (I couldn't hold the camera up all night and enjoy the concert). I was right at the end of the left stage leg. Johnny came all the way out and ROCKED In My Place(Chris said "I think we have our first live single" at the end of the song so hopefully they will release that part if not all of the concert). They all ran past me to get the back of the arena to play an acoustic version of the scientist and death will never conquer with Will singing of course.
All I can say if they don't release a live recording of that concert or a video, they are killing themselves becuase that was an AMAZING performance. No f'ing Warning Sign tho, what gives? Its easily one of their top 5 songs and they never play it...EVER.. .
Overall, best live performance ever and the bar is exxxxxxxxxxtremely high for next weekend in DC. I don't know how DC is supposed to live up to the kind of fans Philly has. Most people were singing their heads off. Kinda funny people stopped clapping halfway through strawberry swing tho, I tried to keep them going but no dice. Thanks to Coldplay and the sign gang for a great night!!!!!!!!
[ColdplayInMyBrain]
Chris also gave the "rules of the encore" courtesy of Sir Paul McCartney. He also joked before Death Will Never Conquer that they were going to do something only Genesis had tried before, make the drummer the singer.
I thought Politik was the best song of the evening. I loved the butterfly confetti! I got a ton of it!
The Coldplay Sign Gang kicked ass. We covered the whole floor. I was a bit dissapointed that not nearly as many people as I hoped held up their signs. Thanks for all of your help everyone. It was good to see you all.
I am looking forward to seeing them in DC next week.
[jasmynebirch]
The concert was amazing. Although, I will never bring my Dad again....he got drunk and almost got kicked out twice for acting a fool. He was embarrassing and wouldn't leave me alone!!! For some time, I was distracted and worrying about that but after a bit I shrugged my shoulders and ignored him. I really didn't care if he got kicked out. I actually hoped he had.
Security was almost non existent. No metal detector, I guy just peaked in my bag. I managed to bring a camera and video recorder. My Dad was in charge of taping but that didn't last long and I'm sure whatever video I do have wasn't made with a steady hand since he was intoxicated!!! I got some pics. Most are dark...I need a better camera. But I got a few gems and I'm grateful.
Anyway, back to the show. I had great seats. Row 12 and I had an aisle seat. I was right near the end of the catwalk. The side they did "Chinese Sleep Chant". They were so close!!! I held up my "Hi, Jon heart (picture of heart), Jess" sign (I know that was dumb but I couldn't think of anything clever. It got his attention and he shyly smiled at me.
Right after the butterflies fell in "Lovers in Japan", I left. THey were not finished the encore but I wanted to check outside out since I knew they'd be leaving straight from encore. Well I made my way over to the tor busses. I think there were five or so. THe were so easily accessible so I figured that was too easy. I walked some more and came to an area. I looked down over the iron gate and down below in a very secure spot was two police SUV's and four black SUV's with tinted windows with the doors open awaiting the band. THis area they were in was below ground level. To get out the had to enter a small tunnel but the tunnel was short. I walked over to the end of the tunnel and there was a gate with a guard. I asked the guard if the band would exit here. He said yes. I asked if they may stop (I was the only one out there waiting since I left before the show was over). He said they couldn't since they'd have a police escort. I walked closer to the exit. Within minutes I see the police car coming towards me with its lights on. I held up my Jonny sign as the guys cars went by. Will's window was cracked several inches so I saw him looking out the window. The rest of the windows were shut but I could see the silhouettes of the others as the went by. And they were gone.
I decided to go back into the venue. Thousands of people were rushing out and little 'ol me was squeezing back in. I'm surprised I was able to. I entered the lower level and told a fib. I said I had forgotten my phone. She let me in but another guy told me I had to leave. I didn't turn around to exit where I entered. Instead, I walked across the floor. On the catwalk on jonny's side I saw a man tearing up the floor. I interrupted him and asked for a guitar pick. He said he didn't have anything. He was American so I don't think he was with the band but rather employed by the Wachovia Center? I don't know. Anyway, I climbed back to the lower level and saw Matt, Jonny's guitar tech. I called him twice and he didn't look up or anything. I was heading back up and then I heard someone shouting "yo!" I turned around and Matt was climbing up the lower level from the floor and handed me Jonny's setlist. He said 'Here you go". I said, "thank you, I love you". I am elated to have just that. I'll post pics. Maybe someone can help me decipher what's written on it. I guess it's guitar lingo?
Anyway, I had a great night. The band was amazing. Chris' energy amazes me so. I love the band so much and can't wait to see them again.
[Jbella76]
So I got there shortly after the doors opened cos I wanted to see if they sign crew needed help handing out signs. I didn't initially sign up to help (mainly cos I didn't want to have to print signs myself...I'm pinching pennies haha). But luckily I ran into Professa95 (Sean) and got right in there helping. FIRST OF ALL...I have alot of respect for the Flyers and Sixers. I was SOOO worn out after covering that floor! As we were handing out signs and people started filing in, everyone was really curious as to the purpose of them. The biggest question people had (at least to me) was "Why do they say 'USA STILL Loves Coldplay?'" So I had to explain (like 15-20 times) why. Did alot of promo for the site, though.
The lights came down for the first opening act, and the sign handing out kinda seemed like it would come to a halt (we couldn't see!), but we kept plowing forward! The band was...eh. Good for them for winning the contest, and I've certainly heard worse music in my life, but they just didn't seem...polished. I don't know. Luckily they didn't play for too too long, and the lights came back up. And the crew was out in full speed. It was amazing. By the time the lights came down for the second opening act, it seemed like we were pretty much done (at least on the floor). She/They were better than the first one, in my opinion. The music was a little obscure for the Coldplay audience, but they seemed a little more together and finished, etc.
The wait in between the 2nd opening act and Coldplay seemed like for-ev-er. And that ticking, intense music they were playing before hand DIDN'T HELP! It seemed like the crew was on the stage testing the instruments, etc for so long. I just wanted them to get off and bring Coldplay on! Finally the lights went down and the crowd got on their feet. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life! The music to "Life In Technicolor" started and they were off. The song sounded exactly like it did on the CD (not a bad thing) and was the perfect opener to the show. They immediately went into "Violet Hill" which sent the crowd into a frenzy. Now, I was pretty much dead center in the arena. I was on the floor, a little less than half way back, in the middle section, and in the middle of my row. So I pretty much had the entire crowd surrounding me on all angles. When Chris started singing, I could barely even hear him the audience was singing so loud. I have NEVER heard anything like that before! The song rocks live, too (as I knew it would). It was PERFECT...litterally sent chills down my spine.
So the lights came down and there was a bit of a delay. It was probably only 5 seconds, but it felt like much longer. The crowd was just waiting in anticipation for something familar to start playing. An opening chord or drum beat or piano part. You could just feel it. Luckily, they got it. "Clocks" started playing and the place ERUPTED. I've heard the song a million times before, and every time I've seen the band live, but it STILL gets me excited to hear it! As soon as the signature lazer lights come on, you're just taken to another place. It was just brilliant. The song was a shorter version than they've played in the past (especially in comparison to the Twisted Logic tour version! EPIC!)...it was about the same as the radio edit. Then that familar drum beat started. You could tell who the REAL fans were because they immediately recognized it, but everyone caught on when the rest of the band came in on "In My Place." No matter what, the song always brings the house down. It's a classic. The audience was litterally SCREAMING the "yeah"s at the top of their lungs! But it was a run-of-the-mill "In My Place" performance. Not to say that it wasn't special...because it was. It always is.
So the lights go down again, and they do a quick change in set. As soon as I saw them grab the bell I knew what was coming. When the strings to "Viva La Viva" stated, I swear it was like the second coming. Everyone in the Wachovia center knew that song, loved that song, and was dying to hear that song. Everyone sang every single word at the top of their lungs. Again, I could barely even hear Chris. And when the "whoa-oh-oh-oh" part came in, it was an UNBELIEVABLE feeling to hear the crowd scream-singing along. Unbelievable. At this point in time it was a very hits-heavy set, so when "Yes" started, it was very welcomed. Alot of people have cut up this track live, but I L.O.V.E.D. it. Replacing the strings with guitar worked perfectly and it really made the song rock more than I ever imagined it out. And the extended outro...Oh my God. It was incredible! There was very little downtime in between "Yes" and "42" which worked great. Instead of the audience screaming and going nuts when the song started, they just all immediately came in singing. The whole first 1/3 or 1/4 (depends on how you look at it) on piano was again accompanied by the audience singing their frickin' heads off. The song rocks live, let's be honest. I think they could've extended it a little bit, to be honest, to keep the momentum going, but it was still great. The crowd loved it.
So then Chris took the keyboard again and played a chord with the organ sound. I immediately knew what it was, but when he actually started playing the crowd went bizerk. "Fix You" was without a doubt tied for the biggest sing alot of the night (I'll get to that later). Chris didn't even have to sing a note. In fact, he didn't during the chorus. It was a shock to see it in the middle of the set, but almost a welcomed surprise. The song has become a Coldplay staple and classic. There's no doubt about it. It was...I couldn't believe it. So then "Strawberry Swing" started almost right away. It was good. I love the song, but it was a very generic perfomance of it. Good, just not alot to comment on it.
Then they moved to right catwalk extension and immediately broke into "Chinese Sleep Chant" which I LOVED. One of my favorites on the album, and it rocked live. The effects on Chris' voice were great! And they brought out the lazers again. Perfect. A dancy song started playing and the crowd had NO idea what it was until Chris started sining "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face." To be honest, I thought the song was half-assed. It had so much potential, but they just stopped after the first chorus. Oh well.
The band then went back to the stage and immediately broke into "Speed Of Sound." It was so welcomed. It's almost like everyone forgot about the song, and remembered it when they started playing. Excellent use of balls, too. Chris grabbed his guitar and had a little chat with the audience while it seemed like they fixed something and talked about how they were doing the song that "brought them to Philadelphia." When they started the place, once again, went nuts. "Yellow" was tied for the biggest sing-along of the night. In fact, Chris immediately turned the mic to the crowd at the beginning. It was nothing more than "Yellow" but it was still an amazing performance. At the end Chris held out the note on "yoouuuuuuuu" and it immediately went into "Lost!" The transition did not work for me. The songs were just too different and it was awkward for a little while. But "Lost!" is a Coldplay classic and everyone loved it. The song had a great crowd reaction.
So then they moved to the back, much to everyone's surprise/pleasure. They talked alot at this point and seemed so in tune with the crowd. When they played the acoustic version of "The Scientist" I, honestly, almost cried. It was so special. You could hear the whole crowd singing their heads off. It was simple, yet completely effective. Chris then introduced Will (making reference to Genesis) and they played "Death Will Never Conquer." To my surprise, people knew it. A couple people in my section were singing along, and it was nice to see. They said their fake goodbyes and left.
The "Talk" video was hilarious, and a PERFECT introduction for "Politik" which was a surprise to everyone. The song is AMAZING live (probably their best) and the crowd went nuts. It was the full version of the song and just...I can't even describe it. It was one of the best feelings ever. Coldplay then broke out in "Lovers In Japan" which was the best "performance" of the night. The projections and confetti were just perfect additions to the song and everyone loved it. I still can't get over it. The crowed loved it, too. It should be a single. The band ended the show was "Death and All His Friends" which was another big sing along. I wish they had extended it a bit, but again it had a warm reception. After the song the signs went up while the band took their bows and left.
About a minute later they came back out and Chris said "All of the sudden we've got the best fans in the world." They grabed their instruments, nodded to eachother, and broke out "Green Eyes." The crowd went NUTS. He stumbled through the lyrics a bit, but it was great none-the-less. They finished up with "The Dubliner" which confused everybody. Haha. No-one knew what it was, but they all still loved it. They left, the lights went up and that was it!
Overall, it was a much different show than "Twisted Logic" but a much more effective one. It was just a band playing their music. No real frills or whatever. They are a live band, and always will be. I loved every second of the show (except for the transition into "Lost!" haha)
[musicman1990]
I was at the Philly concert with my teenage daughter. We both had seen Coldplay in Philly the last time they were here (couple of years ago???). In fact, we were pretty much in the same seats, all the way straight back in Section 216. We saw both opening acts, and enjoyed both. I thought the first act's middle songs were very good, very Coldplay-like. We both really enjoyed Santogold. It was good to hear something different, and they rocked. I'm surprised by the couple of very negative posts I read here regarding Santogold.
Loved Life in Technicolor, Clocks, Viva La Vida, Yellow, and Politik. Loved how the crowd practically took over lead vocals for Chris for most of the concert, especially early.
Didn't like the rendition of Chinese Sleep Chant or God Put A Smile on Your Face, especially the latter.
I thought Chris lost his voice a bit after Viva La Vida, and eventually regained strength later.
It was a great concert. We really enjoyed it. It was great seeing the best band that's out there nowadays.
[Beatle Ed]
COLDPLAY!!!!!
7:00 - We arrive and find our seats (which are right by the stage, up high. Nice.). It's pretty empty. Hmmm.... oh crap. It starts at 8:00, not 7:00 Oh well. A whole hour to hang out and talk with my hubby with no interruptions. We discuss everything from Celine Dion in concert to the theology of evil.
8:00 - The opening, opening band starts. They're pretty good. Apparently they're some local band who won a contest to play here. A little toe tapping occurs, but seeing as I can't remember their name, I guess they weren't that good.
8:30 - Santogold. Just... oh, my. Hands down, the WORST band I've ever seen live. And that's saying something, friends. These guys come out onstage wearing white shirts, black pants, and white sneakers. Right away, I am thinking this can't be good. Then out come the two backup singers/dancers which I mistake as someone's mom and aunt. Nice outfits, ladies. I feel bad for you. Apparently Miss Santogold has bridesmaids syndrome in which she must humiliate any other female who shares a spotlight with her. Then, out comes the, um... singer? I think singer. She, too, is decked out in black and white. And then comes the... um... music? It's like new wave Pat Benatar, but not in any good sense of either one of those things. And the backup... singers? Dancers? Not sure. The moves are strictly old school... again, not in a good way. The sad part, their fans probably think I just don't understand them'. That's okay with me.
Now I know that most opening bands like to warm up the crowd by playing fun songs and getting the crowd into music and having a good time. I think Santogold decided to come at it from another angle - warm up the crowd by being so bad and so laughable (seriously... Jamie and I couldn't stop cracking up) that the crowd is hysterically excited to see whatever comes next. Just please, for the love of all things that are good, make them stop.
Moving on. 9:00 - Obnoxious drunk guys arrive and sit right in front of us. You know the guys, I mean. They are at every concert. They arrive drunk, use "F you!" as a term of endearment amongst each other, fight with everyone around them (including the old gray-haired lady in front of them who is pissed because they keep spilling beer on her - true story, friends), and shout "WOO" a lot before the show even starts. Not to be confused with the fun drunk guys at the concerts. They also arrive drunk and shout "WOO" a lot, but are funny, dance a lot, and are having a good time. I spend the next 30 minutes just hoping they leave us alone. Which they do. I guess my ESP was on target last night (Leave us alone... leave us alone... we aren't even here.) Oh, look, one of their girlfriends just showed up. She's classy.
9:30 - Coldplay!!!! They open with Violet Hill. Awesome. It's followed by hit after hit after hit. From Yellow to Fix You, to Cemeteries of London (awesome).
10:00ish - Viva La Vida comes on. The crowd goes completely wild. I call our ticket benfactor to share the awesomeness.
Then, toward the end of the show, they run off stage, down the side of the crowd on the floor, up one of the stair cases, through a stadium entrance and disappear. Where did they go? And then a few minutes later, out they pop at the back of the stadium into the stands to perform The Scientist. Amazing. This is my favorite Coldplay song for personal reasons. The crowd goes nuts. I discover that my camera has super hero zoom power. Nice.
11:00 - Encore! Out they come and play Politik, Lovers in Japan, and Death and All His Friends. Woo Hoo. The coolest part was when confetti blasted from the ceiling every time the chorus came around on Lovers in Japan. So fun!!!!
11:20 - Second Encore. Green Eyes. Nice. Chris jokes about them having to get nose jobs and that's why they had to change the concert date.
11:30 The end. Party's over. Go home, find out Evie did take her bottle and the girls were great and are both upstairs asleep. Nice end to an amazing night.
