Where else can you find giant brown bears illuminated onto the crowd, thousands of people waving cell phones in the air on the command of a singer and people simply flipping out? On Sunday, March 26, the renowned band Coldplay played to a sold-out crowd at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y. during their 2006 Twisted Logic tour.
The show kicked off with the opening of former Verve member Richard Ashcroft, best known for the song "Bittersweet Symphony." It was a refreshing way to start off the high-energy evening.
The fan base ranged from young children to middle-aged adults wanting to see a truly talented band. As the lights dimmed, fans settled into their seats and instant screams and applause ensued.
The British quartet of Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman opened with "Square One," from their 2005 CD "X & Y." The show was a treat to the senses, with the tremendous light and laser show to match the provocative, deeply emotional lyrics.
"Yellow," an old favorite from their album "Parachutes," was a true crowd pleaser as enormous yellow balloons descended upon the crowd from the rafters above and burst confetti on fans, as well as the band, below.
Despite all of their success musically and romantically, Coldplay remains humble and gracious of all their supporters.
In between songs, Martin complimented the throngs of people for their energy and love, saying they "exceeded his expectations."
The energy of his fellow band members matched that of Martin's, leading to a captivating performance of such popular songs as "Clocks," "Politik" and their recent single, "Talk."
Another highlight of the evening was the band's tribute to the late Johnny Cash with their song "Til Kingdom Come" and Cash's "Ring of Fire." This surprising homage caused an audience-wide sing-a-long and proved the versatility of Coldplay's musicianship.
Just when the show could not get more phenomenal, the band responded to a lengthy standing ovation with a three-song encore, including "Swallowed in the Sea," "In My Place," and, the song the band referred to as their most meaningful, "Fix You." Lead-singer Martin ran through the aisles accompanied by body guards, delighting and exceeding the expectations of die-hard fans.
If you have the opportunity to see this incredible band, no matter what the ticket price, Coldplay will definitely "put a smile upon your face."

Last night Coldplay performed their first of two nights at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. The First words Chris Martin said were "Im warning you were in a very good mood" which must have been contagous.
It was a very amazing show due to the amazing performance and set list. For every song there is different stunning visual effects and the band switches up as well it is the most well planned show ive seen. Will Champian plays piano for three songs including trouble and the Johnny Cash tribute "Ring of Fire" Guy played a little harmonica on "till kingdome come" and Johnny creates unheard of guitar sounds!
When Chris was running around the stage or the arena Johnny can cover his keyboard parts threw guitars and pedals. People of all types came down! I saw an old couple around the age of 60 slow dancing to the scientist. There were 10 year old kids there with there parents, hot chicks singing along every song and of course my group the stoners.
They didnt mess up once in there 17 song set which leaves the crowd wanting more absolutly fantastic as they say "when you see it then youll understand". Although i would have liked to see the new single "the Hardest Part" they make Richard Ashcroft look not like a has been but a never was he said "If theres anyradio people in the audiance play this tommorow cause were all sick of Your beautiful already" with his one hit from his old band that disolved after three albums while coldplay seems to be just warming up.
I said to my friend while blazing home "they are much better than U2 there ganna be our generations beatles" then my friend calming me down said lets not get carried away now.

I’m glad he did that because I FRIGGIN TOUCHED HIS CHEST!!!!!!!!!! Oh yes… tis true. I was at the end of the aisle and I was standing on my chair as he was running back towards the stage…. so I reached my arm out and touched his chest…. holy crap I am still in shock over that..lol.

Great show. Terrific performances from both Richard Ashcroft and Coldplay. I had a better time than at MSG last year. Same setlist as the NJ show. Ashcroft did not curse at all and I guess he’s playing Webster Hall on Wed. Chris made some shout outs to Long Islanders.
The crowd was pretty pepped for Sunday night. Though my section was a little dull with two rows of children sitting nearby. So it was just a small group of of us strangers near the penalty box on the right side dancing and screaming. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
Fun stuff: CM body-slammed one of the ‘Yellow’ balloons. CM ran up and down only on the left side of the arena, I wish it was the right.
Stuff to buy: leftover Coldplay t-shirts from the MSG concert last year half price at $20
[Thanks Halokiti]

Funny Moments: A few of the balloons fell on the stage and after Yellow ended Chris did a belly flop onto one of the balloons popping it then smacked the floor with his entire body (you could actually hear the thud).
When starting the acoustic set, instead of giving a speech, Chris explained how they changed clothes to keep looking fresh for the crowd then pointed out Guy.
