Fan Reviews
All fan reviews have been submitted to us by the members of Coldplaying.com[1], unless stated otherwise.
I just came back home. One word: Amazing. That's all I can say by now. The band was brilliant and so was the crowd. Can't say too much right now, because I'm exhausted and I've got to realise what happened The setlist was as asual, with one exception: Til Kingdom Come (with Chris on vocals) replaced Green Eyes. I'm happy and tired , so good night everybody.
So, I'm well-rested but still happy and all excited. I was standing on the right side from the band's view, somewhere between row 5 to 10. That changed a lot, quite funny.^^ The people around me were, well, it could have been better but it was okay. Sometimes, especially during Glass of Water, I felt like being the only one who's singing It started with the Kilians. I've heard their name before, but none of their songs. They were alright, definitely better than Howling Bells, which I disliked. Right from the first note of Magnificant, I was totally nervous. A few minutes later, the lights were switched off and I felt like being in a trance for the next two hours. They were just perfect, marvellous and gigantic. After it was all over, I felt electrified. That's fitting. It was like happiness and incredulity were combined. Very strange Luckily, I was able to grab a lot of butterflies and also a copy of LRLRL, but I'm not sure whether my sister has a spare. The setlist was great, I had doubts because VLVODAAHF is the album which I like least, but these doubts weren't affirmed, it was amazing. My personal favourites were In My Place, LiT ii, LIJ, The Scientist, Politik, Fix You and Cemetries of London. I was kind of surprised that they played Til Kingdom Come, but disappointed and sad about the missing of Speed of Sound. But all in all, it was great and I'm sure I'll never forget this Thursday night

I´m also back at home already over an hour and I´m so tired but sad, because that was my last gig .. for now. My last gig with Coldplay. When I arrive at the stadion, it was great. An nice view to the arena and above the street stands "COLDPLAY ->" or so on. Nice But the parking-logic for cars is VERY VERY BULLSHIT! But, shit happens Lets go on.
On the way to our sits on the "Sparkassen Tribüne" we saw drink-stands where you can get drinks in special COLDPLAY-glasses (Glass of Water ). They´re awesome! But expensive. I have 2 right here at home
Then, we open the door to go outsite to the sits and open it... and are shocked! So amazing fucking big! Colourfull sits and so amazing. And then we saw the stage - amazing big as well. All amazing big but the people on the stage looked so small
Then, Howing Bells started their show. First, I saw the girl who's singing. She's cute And have a very nice voice. I am a drummer. Play myself at home and was happy aout the last 4 songs because they was more heavy to drum
Coldplay starts and I don´t know what to say. I was at the sky.. in dreams..in love... all together! It was awesome deluxe! The sound, the stage, the light-show, the fireworks, the crowd!
My favorit: Life in Technicolor (start), Lost, Lovers in Japan, In my place, Life in Technicolor ii
Does anyone find a big Coldplay Open-Air Placard around Düssedorf?
I have to sleep now... ;D "Gutä Naachd"

OK I'm back guys
What can I say now - so much in my head right now!
Wonderful evening. Coldplay as good as we know them and maybe a bit better...the guys are so gorgeous and awesome, I've made a lot of vids... I'm still so excited - not able to write everything down...
I was in the back of the arena and did not have the impression that the bass was too loud - but I had the impression that everything was a bit too calm...
I did not have the feeling that I was there in the middle - it was like I was just a bystander, the music was not all around me....but that has nothing to do with Coldplay - their show was great.
A bit sad because there was no Speed of sound ...but it was ok because Billie Jean was there and Till kingdom come.
Yep Politik was great - it's my favorite song and I was electrified when it started... but I did not like the claps during the best part of the song in the middle.
I can't say what was my favorite performance of the evening - everything was fantastic.
But I agree it was not really a concert - it was a show! The music was gorgeous, Chris' voice was as good as ever but the music was nevertheless not in the foreground. That's kind of sad for people who adore and love their music ... so I really hope their next album will not be that successful ...sounds paradox but maybe then they'll return more to the musical part and there not so many people who just go their to have a great experience - I hate those mainstreamers.

This was such a fucking amazing day for me!!! The concert was great, I was front row, I met another nice Coldplayers and the best for me - I have Chris shirt!!! OMG, I have his shirt! Phil came to me during the show and gave me the shirt. He said, "It's from Chris for you". At the moment I'm the happiest woman in the world. And I swear, this shirt you'll never found at ebay Now I wait for my train and tomorrow ............. Coldplay in Munich
[aniskywalker]
weee I am back, too
what can I say? It was definitely an amazing
the guys and esp. Chris were in such a great mood. That*s what I loved most. Oh and the normal version of The Scientist. The crowd was amazing and Chris' german was amazing as well(esp. when he said we should a "Lola Welle"...) Maybe I will write a review but I am not sure yet....
Ooooooooooooooooooh...how could I forget: I made it to front row (in front of the left side of the stage...so the main stage was some meters away, but that was ok..I could see everything anyways....without any heads in front of me...)...I have waited for this for 4 years now and finally I made it...
I didn't have a camera with me, only my mobile phone. So I took some crappy videos...one of Viva La Vida where Chris is dancing in front of us at the end...I think I will upload this one... and maybe I will also upload some of my bad pics.....
it is so strange....I am not excited anymore and I do not really feel like listening to Coldplay for the next few days...
but it was a great show and The Scientist and LIT2 actually made me almost cry

AWESOME! But it's kind of sad that they left out the song I've been looking forward to the most. I already heard them play Til Kongdom Come, but no Green Eyes. Anyways it was just ...wow. And I still hope for Wembley to hear Green Eyes and Trouble.
Also great was that I already knew some people from other concerts and got to meet some new ones. Hello to everybody I met
I'm still overwhelmed by this totally fantastic concert. When Chris said we were one of the best audiences ever I was kind of annoyed, guessed it to be just a phrase. But after thinking about it and reading the latest comment on coldplay.com, I'm happy they really seemed to mean it. This concert really was one of the bests I've ever been to.

I'm back from Düsseldorf!
I'm too exhausted to write a review right now, but the journey to Düsseldorf and back took ages. Lots of road works here and there thanks to the economic stimulus package.
All I can say is that I managed to get front row thanks to the other coldplayers I met and a good shape haha. I had a very nice time and one of us got a lot of presents from the roadies afterwards. Chris mentioned at the end of the concert that everyone backstage said it was one of the best gigs they've ever done. It definitely was!
More to follow... good night!

OMG So guys I'm sorry that I didn't write anything yesterday, but I was just too tired. I arrived at 1 am at home and then I was so exhausted that I just fell onto my bed.
OK! IT WAS FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! Even if I think that the whole adience were not as good as in Cologne last year. I stood at the front with Mark, Phil, Nicole, katjaand a lot more. Because of that this the atmosphere was actually ok around me. Next to Thalia and me stood an older woman with whom we talked and who also had a lot of fun. She was excited like we were and she also sang along with almost every song. The first thing was that when we started to go to Düsseldorf we lost our way on the highway and suddenly we were through Düsseldorf, but fortuneately we found the right way back an arrived at about 2.45 pm. Then we went to the entrance and there were already a lot of people. Not very much, but we couldn't really go to the front, but Nicole was there and she told us that the others were at the North-West entrance, so we went there and found them. I guess at this entrance there were only about 15 people at this time and we stood in the front of the gates. When the security people came I really got excited. I think we all did AND I when they let us in I could see that Mark really does marathon because he is really fast. Thalia and I tried to keep up with them but we just couldn't. At the end we found them again in front of the stage. Two yellow wembley t-shirts which means that there were Mark and Phil. A good thing is that we didn't get bracelets to get into the golden circle. We just had to get some if we wanted to get out of it to buy something to drink or anything. (they were orange ) So and then started the long time of waiting for the kilians and the howling bells. A lot people sat down, but because we could talk a lot the time passed by quite fast. My personal opinion is that the kilians were quite ok. There music was nice, but I didn't really like the howling bells. I don't know. But it was quite sad that not many people applauded. I guess it was also because the arena wasn't full at the time. Most people with seat tickets just arrived shortly before Coldplay started. Oh and when the Howling bells finished playing, Thalia and I were looking for the roadies and after some time. Phil also came with a camera on the stage. We called him all together and he saw us and grined.
Oh and by the way while we were waiting the whole time for the bands they played good music in the background. Ulrich Schnauss, John Hopkins, Sigur Ros... It was great and of course it was amazing when Coldplay came on stage. It was already dark at that time. Before the concert I was a bit worried that it could still be bright because of the open air. So, what else can I say. It was great and funny when Chris said "oh jesus" because the mobile wave didn't work. All the Germans were confused where to start so it ended up a lot were just holding there mobiles up in the air. Unfortunately I couldn't see Coldplay when they played gpasuyf, dwnc and so on because I'm too small.
All in all it was fantastic but ended too fast.
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell. mc_scared mentioned it. Thalia and also got a lrlrl cd, but because there were so many people and we didn't know on which side we could get it faster, my mother also got two cd's for us so now both uf us have two
And the parking was horrible. When we got back to our car we stood almost 15 minutes without moving the car from where I had parked. The people with the orange jackets whowere supposed to manage the traffic there were sitting inside a small building. I guess they were drinking coffee or talking or both. I don't know. It was good to hear that a lot of people listened to lrlrl in their cars with opened windows. And there was a chorus of horns while we were waiting to leave the car-park. I met a girl from my school there who was there with her boy-friend and she also liked the concert. Two more from my school were also there. They didn't have tickets, but they still got some from people selling their tickets outside for 35€. I don't know exactly where they were and f theyhad seat orstanding tickets.

Best Coldplay concert I've been to so far, for a number of reasons. Great to be able to "stand" again after the huge disappointment of the all-seater 02 concerts in December. I had already arranged to meet Phil (r25d01) and as I had been to the venue before (for The Police last year) I already knew where I could park "for free" about a ten-minute walk away. The weather was fantastic (sunny with a mainly blue sky), but not too hot, so ideal for queuing. When we arrived there were only a handful of people there in either queue, and we had more than enough snacks with us to keep us going. It was hours before anyone else showed up at our entrance, and the queue didn't really start to form until about an hour before the gig, which I was pretty surprised about. We all know that's not going to happen at Wembley. The queuing organisation was a shambles, however, as just minutes before we were allowed in the security decided to close off three of the lanes (including ours), so all of us at the front of these lanes then had to squeeze into the front of the adjoining lanes (assisted by the goodwill of the people in those lanes). Then when the gates finally opened, we found some of the security (including our guy) to be especially difficult, which cost us precious seconds. And as if that wasn't enough of a pain, after enduring the long sprint to get inside, it was clear that the other entrance had been opened at least a minute or two before ours, putting us at a great disadvantage. Nearly all the front places had already been taken, and there were even people who were already sitting down, indicating they had already been there a minute or so at least. However, despite all these issues, we still managed to secure a front place between us, directly in front of Jonny, so there was ultimately no harm done. The fantastic thing was that several of us Coldplayers (including Twisted Mind, Dark_Sofie, Echolot, Katja and AniSkywalker) all ended up together, which helped create a fantastic atmosphere, something which was sadly impossible at the 02. The difference was that although there were still some motionless "zombies" near us, we were able to compensate for them with our collective energy. This definitely bodes well for Wembley. The Esprit Arena is an impressive venue, and the fact the roof was open (it was closed for The Police concert) and you could see the stars, added an extra dimension.
As for the concert itself, I thought the Kilians were pretty good, but the Howling Bells a bit "depressing". I felt it would have been better for the Kilians to have been on second, as their sound was far more "upbeat". Still far better than what we had in either Cologne or at the 02 though.
Pity there were no real surprises in the Coldplay setlist, but nevertheless the boys were on cracking form and I had a fantastic time, helped in no small way by our Coldplaying "collective". It seems that Chris really meant it when he said the crowd was "one of the best ever".
Yellow balls and butterflies excellent again. "Lovers In Japan" superb as always. "The Scientist" and "Politik" also stood out for me. As always the time flew by and it was all over way too fast. Managed to get my CD afterwards, although it was necessary to get in a "scrum" to do so! Phil was interviewed by EinsLive as he came out, so if anyone comes across a link to that, they should post it!! I felt really tired afterwards as it had been a long day (though not as long as it had been for some others ), but thankfully I didn't have to endure the car park chaos and was able to make a quick getaway.
Now all I can say is - roll on Wembley! More of the same, please!!
[mc_squared]
Perfect concert! Chris said that we were one of the most amazingst audiences coldplay ever seen. Wonderful Night! Thank you
[WarningGuy]
Hey..
The concert was so great, although its was more a really bombastic fantastic show than a concert anymore..
But dont you think that Politik rocked the most..
[TheBlackSwan]
Just got back from my little trip to Düsseldorf. I'm tired as hell, so I hope you don't expect me to write a proper review now. Maybe it will follow next week, but I'm not quite sure yet... Most about the concert has been said already anyway... Well, to make it short: What a great night! The boys were just wonderful as always and did an amazing job! I'm also glad I had such an awesome time with all the people I met (Thank you so much again, guys! ). Well, I should say that the organizing at the venue was catastrohpic and that I was rather gutted about it at first, but I decided not to let it ruin my whole concert experience and I tried my very best - and it worked (most of the time ). So, now I'm just hoping that these "little" things will work out much better tomorrow in Munich and that the Coldplaying-Karma will be with me...
[Ilione]
The concert in Düsseldorf yesterday was the BEST concert I've ever been to!! Coldplay totally ROCKED!!!!! I especially loved Viva la vida and Fix you, I had goosebumps when those two songs were played. Btw, thanks for the free copy of leftrightleftrightleft, AWESOME idea!!
[chickpea90]
phew, we're finally back at home as well...
God it was SO brilliant!! My friend and me had soooo much fun and although we were already exhausted before the concert, we just couldn't stop dancing and jumping. Volunteering for Oxfam was great too, except for the people who said to us that the world is beyond help and it's a waste of time to do something against it and crap like that The other volunteers were impressed though with all the email-addresses (for the Oxfam-newsletter) we've got, so I think we weren't that bad We were standing in the front row, on Guy's side, we couldn't see a lot of the stage because we're so small and we were too far away for the butterflys, but we had such a great time there anyway.
After the concert, we had to wait 5 hours until our train came. We were sitting on the stairs of the arena until we were asked to leave , walked around the building and then went to the central station. And then suddenly I felt really sick. I don't know why, maybe I ate something wrong or it was just the combination of it all, having not enough sleep and food during the day, travelling 5 hours in 5 trains, the exhausting gig... so we had to sleep in a hotel instead of staying up all night, which kinda makes me sad. We met aniskywalker at McDonalds and I really would've liked to stay there listening to her storys about signs and t-shirts and chocolate
Also at McDonalds, a guy came to us and asked us how the concert was, so we told him how much fun we had. And then he said "Oh.. I've been to a Coldplay concert 6 years ago here in Düsseldorf and I wanted to see them again this time, but the tickets are so expensive... but it seems I missed out on something, right?" Oh yes he did!
[Jea]
Wednesday
Carol and me arrived in Düsseldorf and went straight to the arena to check out the place. I didn’t feel ashamed to ask basically ANYBODY we saw how many entrances there will be, where to go once inside etc. So we walked around quite a bit and everybody we talked to gave us different information!
But the best info definitely came from the person at the reception of the arena. I asked how far the works on the stage are done and he said: “I’ve just taken a couple of pics of it but I won’t show you… Look at it yourself!”
I didn’t get what he meant.
He then told us that the restaurant of the hotel next to the arena has a terrace that is INSIDE the arena and we should go there and have a coffee. Of course we followed his instructions! Best 3 Euros we spent that day.
We couldn’t believe we are really inside the arena and can watch the roadies working there. Even funnier: Franksie was having a coke on a table there as well!
We ordered a coffee and I don’t know if it was the caffeine or the excitement that made me shake
They’ve just started building the “ramp of love” and testing the huge screens. Here are some pics of what it looked like inside after a pic of my favourite trucks:
The view from the terrace:
Setting up the ramp of
The world turned upside down:
They started testing the screens:
"Are you taking a picture of me??"
LeftRightLeftRightLeft:
The VIVA test screen
VIVA balloon, still touching ground:
Amazing to watch as well:
In the lift of the hotel the “Lauschangriff – Menü” was displayed.
It was really hard to leave there We'Ve been told they started working on Sunday!
We then just quickly checked in at our hotel and went to town centre where we met Ilione and her friend to get dinner. It was so lovely meeting you!!!
Thursday
I talked to a security guy on Wednesday and when we mentioned we wanted to start queuing at about 8am he said that would be too late!! But we were determined to get to the front row so we went there at 6am. Carol, Ilione. and K. – again: I apologise soooooo much for making you get up so early but this is what this guy told me! Of course Carol and me were the first ones there and we sat down on my blanket that I actually didn’t intend to take back home… More about that later! Soon after E. & K. arrived and joined our early picnick. We saw the Dixie toilets arrive One of the many highlights at 6am in the morning A lovely security guy became our new friend. He was really helpful and gave us loads of information (he told us about the live blog and the 1LIVE interview etc) and time passed quickly (also because of this telephone conference with Ilione’s lovely and patient mother who bought her a ticket for SP in November!!! Can’t wait to see you there again! ). Later in the morning we were joined by Philip, Mark and… oh sorry, I forgot her name – I said it before that I’m so bad at remembering names!!!
We should be the only ones queuing at this entrance for a long time! Apparently people only saw the other entrance and didn’t walk further. We had the better one however because we could use the toilets of the sports hall right next to the entrance. Kris had an amazing time queuing with us as well, but more about this later – I’ll only write about the concert now…
In the afternoon we were joined by other coldplayers. Only from 3pm onwards it started to became more crowded and at about 4pm the security people started standing at the about 25 locks.
They decided however to NOT open the locks we were standing at. “We used to rule the queue…” I started a little riot, complaining that I wouldn’t go to the back of the other queues because we were the first ones arriving and queuing the longest time. We nearly had a heart attack! After some discussions however we could go to the front of another lock. The plan was as follows: Ilione and me will run first, her friend K. and Carol will take the backpacks and run after us. I only had Kris and my mobile in a see-through plastic bag so I wouldn’t need long to enter the arena. The guy standing next to me said: “Oh, I’ve seen him already!” So I asked if he was a member as well and he said he wasn’t – he just checked the concert thread to get more information! Kris was spotted after his first trip already!
Ok, so we were all excited and shuffling our feet to run inside. (Carol just said “No, I was shaking!") This nice security lady kindly already checked my plastic bag before the locks were opened. She was so nice and I think a bit afraid of the people standing in front of her
I was the first one to enter the inside area and started running like crazy… I was expecting that other people behind me would be faster but they weren’t!! It’s just unbelievable! Either I don’t realise how much I walk around at work or it was the adrenaline OR people behind us were as unathletic as I am I really was the first one to arrive at the entrance of the arena.
There however my heart dropped: They had opened the other entrance before ours and there were loads of people inside already. I ran past Jackie (who we’ve seen at 9am already) and saw that luckily there was still an empty space at the barriers on Jonny’s side. This was the place to go then! Quickly Ilione arrived and helped me reserve the space for K., Larry and Carol. There we were – FRONT ROW!!!!!!!! I was so happy, if it wouldn’t have worked this review would have been completely different!
I asked a security guy if I can put my banner in front of the barrier (I copied that brilliant idea from you, Camille! I made holes on the edges and brought some strips of cloth to bind them). He first said it wouldn’t be possible but then asked someone else and said it would be fine as long as the step is accessible. PERFECT.
The funniest coincidence was that the guy standing on my right was calling someone as soon as we got in and his accent sounded all too familiar! So after he finished his phone call I asked where he’s from and it turns out he was only living in the town next to me!! He was really nice (and we had the same opinion about the Howling Bells…)
Soon afterwards Fraetes joined us and the waiting time began. I can’t really say that it took long – there was so much happening!
Miller and “Breakdancing Roadie” working on stage for example!
I really have to go to bed now!! The rest will have to come tomorrow...
Good morning!!! (YAWN)
The postman woke me some time ago and delivered my shirts from cafepress... Don't know if I'm happy about that - I wouldn't have minded to sleep a little longer TBH.
Anyways, I can as well continue now!
Soon the Kilians came on stage. K. saw them before and said they were good. How right she was!!!! The singer told us that 6 years ago he went to his first concert – and that was Coldplay here in Düsseldorf! How amazing must that be? Opening for the band you once saw from the “other side”! He even said that he knows that you actually don’t want to see the opening bands but that he hoped that we like them. I surely did and it was the general opinion that they’re a good band. Here are some pics:
Next were the Howling Bells. I won’t say much about them – I was glad when it was over.
The box standing in front of us said “ColdPlay”… who was writing that??
Are you still with me?? Here comes the part you actually wanted to read
Like people said before they didn’t use the curtain. Phil had a short look at the arena from the other side of the stage and saw my roadies sign! He gave me a thumbs up
Hoppy:
A look behind:
When “Magnificent” started we all went crazy as the “countdown” had begun!
Ilione was so right when she said that this one track just managed to do what 2 opening bands couldn’t: we were right in the best mood!!!
I’ve never seen the “Breakdancing Roadie” action before and was so happy when he came on stage during the Jay-Z song! Wow, he’s good!
The guy from my town had never been to a CP concert before so I “instructed” him to clap to the “Blue Danube”
So he did - I’m proud
They had this amazing animation on the screens with a zoom from the earth right into the arena with “Düsseldorf” written across the screens (Snow Patrol moment for Ilione and me See, I didn’t say they copied it!!!) It was really fitting and made the crowd go crazy then already.
The boys came on stage and you probably know what it’s like: All the hurting legs and feet and sorrows are forgotten!!
I have to disappoint you concerning pics: I didn’t take many. It’s just soooo much better to just enjoy and dance and clap and sing than holding up a camera… too many people did that already around me.
During IMP I held up the “Chris, do you want a twiglet?” banner. It was written in red with Kris (= Knitted Chris) and a pack of Twiglets attached on both sides Picture will follow!
Chris saw it, smiled and licked his lips
He also did a really funny dance / jump and I hope someone filmed it!!! I couldn’t stop jumping like that the following day whenever it fitted – such a funny moment! Another thing that made me smile was that he obviously didn’t adapt to the bigger stage yet. At the point where he normally does his jump towards Jonny on the ramp he wasn’t even at the beginning of the ramp and just did a rather small jump and laughed and continued running
At the end of Yellow he made gestures to people in the middle to throw a balloon to him. When it finally reached him he didn’t manage to pop it with his guitar so he ran to where it flew and popped it there.
Will was so quick and banged a drum right at this point!!!
Next was GOW… I always wanted to hear it and can’t tell you how happy I was when I heard the first notes So so so so good!!! I keep thinking back to he first time they played it live and how “different” that sounded. Now it’s really perfect!
When they went to the B-stage I thought I could relax a little but who can resist dancing to these beats? I certainly couldn’t!
I filmed Will singing during THP… going to upload it later!
VLV was amazing as always, the crowd really went mad when it started. (There were so many people filming it as well.)
VLV and Lost are just indescribable live… I love the drums sooooo much!
After that they played “Singing in the rain” through the speakers and all the boys went past us to go to the C-stage. On the setlist it says: “PLAY SINGING IN THE RAIN TRACK – EVEN IF NO RAIN” A couple behind me started dancing together – so cute!!!
It wasn’t possible to see the C-stage so it was time for me to relax a little. I didn’t say enough about the awful organisation in Düsseldorf but I think it’s better to keep those negative things to a minimum. Let me just say that the security weren’t allowed to give us water and at one point I panicked: I couldn’t swallow because of my mouth being so dry. The only things you could buy before the concert were beer and ice-cream. After 5.30pm I never saw these guys again either
I filmed when Chris was speaking German!!! Well, I filmed from when he was TRYING to speak They crowd just didn’t let him – we were all doing the VIVA chant So he tried to explain the Mexican wave, called it “Lola Welle” – so cute! It didn’t work so he said “I have to work on my German” Then they started Billie Jean and a huge cheer came as response from the crowd. I’ll upload that video later as well!
It was then that I took out my blue fan (you Main Square people know it already ) because I was afraid to really start throwing up because of not drinking enough… The security guy kept checking if I’m alright, he was looking at me a couple of times but I’m sure he was shaking his head inside that at every new song I found energy again The things Coldplay are able to do haha.
That fan was handy again to protect my eyes from the MASSIVE lights during Politik!
Next was LIJ and it is incredible every time – those butterflies are just amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. I can’t even find words.
It’s difficult to try to recall how it all happened… But Brooke went to check the confetti bombs in front of me and so I held up my roadies banner again and screamed his name. He turned around and smiled. Then all of a sudden another roadie was in front of me and gave me one of the drum sticks Chris was throwing away during Lost!!!!!!! I didn’t really realise what had just happened It was pure disbelief. It had landed in the middle of the gap between the stage and the barriers and it was so nice of him to give it to me! From that moment onwards my body suddenly found a new reservoir of energy
Nicole, I have a video of Phil giving you the shirt!!! I completely forgot that I filmed it – otherwise I would’ve told you!! I only “discovered” the video here at home It’ll only cost you one sleeve to watch it
So I knew that they’d play LIT II soon and I took my banner from the barrier to hold it up during the song.
Here’s a picture of it:
So I held it up during the song and I knew that they’ve seen it before but the best thing was yet to come: Chris looked at me, placed his hand on his heart and made a little bow!!!!
I’m still so incredibly happy! I didn’t expect anything like that.
Even though we were front row we could still see the fireworks during LIT II. They had tested some fireworks in the morning and we were cheering then already, but it was really nice, even from that perpective. Lovely addition to the show. (But we had to look up quite a lot and I’m happy I don’t have a stiff neck.) As soon as it was over the security took a plastic strap and started pushing us to the back with it like cattle!! But I saw a roadie removing a setlist from the floor so I screamed towards him if I can have it. He just made a gesture that it went into pieces while removing. BUT another roadie had heard me and was holding one and wanted to give it to me!!! This huge security guy was moving towards me with the “cattle drive” strap and didn’t want to let me back!! I wanted to go get my setlist however. And I won the fight haha. He let me go to the stage again and take it – without mumbling “and then get the fuck out of here” however
My lucky earrings proved their name once again:
Then there’s the big “I think I lost my mobile in the arena”-panicking bit. Let me just say I didn’t – and I talked to a nice chief security guy and we even exchanged text messages afterwards
After that we went outside to collect our LRLRL CD! And guess what was still at the same place I left it many hours ago? My old blanket!! It was a huge chaos so we all agreed to meet at the entrance of the sports hall. There we sat a couple of minutes, said bye to Larry who went back home straight after the concert. So did Frank. Ilione, K., Nicole, Carol and me were on another mission now: Getting something to drink!!!! We heard GOW – but we didn’t get one.
So we went to the hotel by the arena (inside actually) and bought some drinks which was heaven! We sat there for some time and then went to the train station together. Thank you so much for keeping me and Carol company on the platform until our train arrived!
It was great meeting you all and thanks again to Mich and Kirsten and Camille for the text messages!
I’ll stop here for now. I’m sure I’ll remember more later however
Pics of Kris’s adventures and videos will follow, promised.
Carol: Thanks for the yummy yummy Jammy biscuits, can't believe I still have 2 packages left. And Ilione - you have to tell me the name of these chocolate biscuits again - I am determined to find them in my town now!!!!

Yeah, thanks for this report from Rheinische Post. I have been to Dusseldorf. It was my first concert from Coldplay, even though I am a fan since A Rush of Blood to the Head. The concert really came up to my expectations. Live, they are even better!

A small Review of the concert (a little later, however, all the same). We have arrived with 4 people by the train. We were thus about 11am before the arena and have gone to the entrance north-east. There were maybe just 10 people. We start some conversations with some people. What one should make, also whole 6 hours ..^^. Of course it became more full it of the time. All at once everybody has jumped up and has come forwards. It was 4pm although an admittance only at 4pm was (We do not know yet why this happened ).
Then around POINT 5pm we walked in. We are running to the entrance to the interior coagulated. However, then the running was forbidden. Then we came one of the first to the damn big arena. It was to be walked quite cool in an empty arena. We have selected a good playce and then we had to wait again 2 hours to the Support Acts started to play. Kilians were quite okay, but Howling Bells... When it went off then, finally, the mood was unbelievable in front! After 10 hours wait, finally, we have got this what we wanted: COLDPLAY The sound very felt also well and the performance of course. Unfortunately, I could not see Chris in "The hardest part": (
The whole concert was perfect. Chris could say even a few things in German. So then at 11pm end was, we are out fast, because we wanted a CD of LRLRL. We have also taken one of it. Luckily we were there by train and this also went very fast. They have gone because at 2 minutes of tact to the CENTRAL STATION And then a great evening draws to a close.

already almost a year ago, I learned about my extraordinary excitement, that the British band Coldplay, 27 August 2009 ein Konzert in meiner Nähe veranstalten würde. August 2009 to organize a concert in my area would be. I immediately took the chance, got me standing room tickets for the interior of the Düsseldorf LTU Arena (the Arena is now the way Esprit ...). Es war 2008, einige Monate nach der Veröffentlichung des neuen Albums „Viva la Vida or Death and all his Friends“, das nicht nur bei mir einschlug wie eine Bombe. It was 2008, some months after the release of the new album "Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends', which not only embarking on me like a bomb. Ein Song nach dem anderen wurde im Laufe der vergangenen Monate als Single veröffentlicht, denn jedes Lied auf diesem Album hat es wahrlich in sich und besitzt das Potenzial zum Lieblingslied. One song after another has been published over the past few months as a single, because every song on this album made it into itself and really has the potential to the playlist. Vor allem der Titelsong des Albums, „Viva la Vida“, entwickelte sich zum größten Hit des Jahres und sorgte für eine Popularitätswelle gegenüber der Band von Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion und Guy Berryman. Especially the title song of the album, "Viva la Vida," became the biggest hit of the year and caused a wave of popularity to the band by Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman. Die Arbeit des Coldplay Onlineteams ist zudem für alle Fans etwas ganz besonderes: Von der über 150 Konzerte langen Tournee schrieb zum Beispiel „Roadie #42“ über Anekdoten, die er mit der Technikcrew und der Band erlebte. The work of Coldplay Online team is also responsible for all fans something very special: From the long touring wrote over 150 concertos, for example, "Roadie # 42" on anecdotes, which he experienced with the technique of the crew and band. Das „Orakel“ beantwortete Fragen aller Art von Coldplayfans aus aller Welt, vier den Bandmitgliedern nachempfundene Marionettenpuppen grüßten stets vor Sehenswürdigkeiten aus aller Welt und der Bassist Guy twitterte Fotos aus dem Alltag einer der größten Rockbands unserer Zeit. The oracle answered questions of all kinds of Coldplay fans around the world, four of the band members always greeted marionettes iconic sights from around the world before and bassist Guy twitters photos from the day one of the greatest rock bands of our time. Das alles trug dazu bei, dass ich das Konzert monatelang sehnlichst erwartete. All this contributed to the concert that I eagerly awaited for months. Von Tag zu Tag wuchs die Vorfreude – und vorgestern war mein großer Augenblick endlich da! Day by day increased the anticipation - and the day before my big moment had finally arrived!
Together with Isa, I made my way to Dusseldorf. It took one and a half hours and made good on the highway. In the immediate vicinity of the stadium, we were quite impressed by the good organization of parking. The auto masses were trained and skillfully conducted and we found a shady spot on the big car P5B.
Before the concert (as always to have been horrendous prices) Coldplay T-shirts and bought something to drink and then we went to the stream of fans into the stadium. Our indoor area (the posterior, one needed for the front lines) was moderately full when we arrived at half past eight the place of action. A very nice stadium was very nice with "Viva" and balloons decorated at one end stood the huge stage construction. Die erste Vorband des Abends, die deutschen „Kilians“ machten wenig beachtete Gute-Laune-Musik, aber der Sänger war sehr sympathisch: „Mein erstes Konzert war zufälligerweise auch Coldplay. The first opening act of the evening, the German "Kilian made" little noticed good-mood music, but the singer was very sympathetic: "My first concert was also happened to Coldplay. Und ich habe die Vorbands gehasst – weil sie immer noch auf der Bühne waren.“ And I hated the opening bands - because they were still on stage. " Das bestätige ich vor allem für die zweite Vorband, „Howling Bells“. I acknowledge that especially for the second opening act, "Howling Bells". Die Sängerin fand in unserem Bereich wenig Sympathie und bekam jeweils höflichen Applaus, was sie allerdings schon dazu hinreißen ließ, uns als „fucking amazing crowd“ zu bezeichnen. The singer was little sympathy in our field, and each received polite applause, but what they had been tempted to call us "fucking amazing crowd" too. Naja wie auch immer, wir waren ja alle nur für vier Jungs aus London hierher gekommen... Well anyway, we were all for only four guys from London, came here ...
Das Konzert The concert
Shortly before nine it was serious: Even in the dusk we could see through the open stadium roof taking off aircraft, while on the deserted stage U2's superhit "Magnificent" was heard. Danach folgte noch eine kurze – aber frenetisch bejubelte – Tanzeinlage eines fegenden Roadies, der allein im Spotlight zu einem Hip-Hop Song auf der Bühne albern abtanzte. After this was followed by a short - but frenetically applauded - Dance insertion of a sweeping roadies, the only abtanzte silly in the Spotlight at a hip-hop song on stage. Und dann wusste jeder, es war so weit: Eine aufbrausende Version des Entenwalzers ertönte, und der gesamte Innenraum schunkelte und klatschte mit. And then everyone knew it was so far: A version of the irascible duck waltz sounded and the entire interior schunkelte and clapping. Es wurde ruhig, gespenstig ruhig. It was quiet, ghostly quiet.
Then came the familiar sounds closer to that had been heard so on CD: The beginning of the album "Viva la Vida". Ein Zusammenschnitt aus Jon Hopkins „Light Through the Veins“ und Coldplays „Life in Technicolor“ kam aus den Lautsprechern und Jubel brauste auf. A compilation of Jon Hopkins' Light Through the Veins "and Coldplay's" Life in Technicolor "came from the loudspeakers and cheers exploded. Er steigerte sich zu einem Orkan, als vier Männer von rechts die Bühne betraten, Wunderkerzen schwenkend und ins Publikum winkend. He grew into a hurricane, when four men entered the stage from right, waving sparklers and waving at the audience. Sie verloren keine Zeit und begaben sich an ihre Instrumente, um in das Stück nun live einzusteigen. They lost no time and went back to their instruments to enter into the piece is now live. Die ersten Töne von Chris' Akustikgitarre waren so stimmungsvoll, so dynamisch, so klar – so bombastisch. The first tones of Chris' acoustic guitar was so atmospheric, so dynamic, so clear - so bombastic. „Guten Abend, meine Freunde“, meldete sich erstmals ein fröhlicher Chris Martin und ein unvergesslicher Abend begann: "Good evening, my friends," came the first time a gay Chris Martin and an unforgettable night began: Auf den Videoleinwänden sah man Guy und Jonny ungewöhnlich gut gelaunt und extrovertiert zur Musik wippen, Chris rannte wie immer auf und ab, mal sichtete man ihn am einen Ende der Bühne, direkt darauf wieder am anderen. On the video screens they saw Guy and Jonny unusually cheerful and extroverted jiggle to the music, as always, Chris ran to and fro, sometimes you spotted him at one end of the stage, jump out again at the other. Er sprang in die Luft, drehte Pirouetten, imitierte einen Segelflieger, ließ seinen Körper vom Sound hin- und herschleudern und legte eine atemberaubende Performance hin. He leaped into the air, spun pirouettes, imitating a glider pilot, was out of his body sound and herschleudern and staged a stunning performance. Nach einem der ersten Lieder saß er schon völlig schweißgebadet und erschöpft vor seinem Piano und die Großaufnahme auf den Videoleinwänden zeigte, wie er langsam nach unten sank und unter dem Klavier verschwand. After one of the first songs he was already completely exhausted and sweating in front of his piano and on the video screens showed close-ups, as he slowly sank down and disappeared under the piano. Erst unser Jubel und Beifall holten ihn zurück, müde und zufrieden lächelnd. Only our cheers and applause brought him back, tired and satisfied smile. Die ganze Band begeisterte und beeindruckte alle Zuschauer vom ersten Ton an mit ihrer Dynamik und erstklassiger musikalischer Qualität. The whole band inspired and impressed all the spectators from the first note with its dynamics and first-class musical quality.
And the technology along with lighting and stage show was doing for the rest of their gigantic show: to "Clocks" lasers flashed through the audience in sing-along passages Blender flared up, the "Viva" balls twinkled with the stadium roof in the appropriate colors on the large LED screen racing one past stars and planets and then again saw the band close up. Alles war perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt, alles war bunt, stimmungsvoll und atmosphärisch. Everything was perfectly coordinated, everything was colorful, moody and atmospheric.
With "Yellow" came the familiar huge yellow balloons again used, which have been prodded to several dozen through the audience. Chris jumped up behind, depending on the mood of a balloon and let it explode wildly gesticulating with his guitar head, so that they exploded in a shower of confetti.
After the first song for the first time he addressed the audience: He apologized (in German), that his German was quite good, and thanked him that "ear to Wear party makt hoit adv. Natürlich hatte er damit die Lacher auf seiner Seite und gut gelaunt ging es weiter mit alten und neuen Songs, bis sie schließlich auf der B-Stage landeten: Of course he did so the laugh on his side and in a good mood it went on with the old and new songs until they finally landed on the B-Stage: Dabei handelt es sich um eine kleine Bühnenplattform auf der rechten vorderen Seite, wo die vier Bandmitglieder auch immer einige Songs performen. This is a small stage platform on the right front side, where the four band members performing whatever some songs. Damit kamen sie in meine Nähe! Thus they came near me! Coldplay spielten gewöhnungsbedürftigte "Techno" Versionen von den alten Hits "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" und "Talk". Coldplay played gewöhnungsbedürftigte "techno" versions of old hits "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" and "Talk".
Then Chris turned once completely through with solo performances on piano, and finally it was time for us to completely durchzudrehen. For the familiar rhythmic strings of "Viva la Vida" is a set! The mood was at its height, Chris raced back to the main stage and the rest went like a dream: thousands of hands, emporgereckt to the chorus, and thousands of throats that target the characteristic "Oooohooo ooooh oh," then the seamless transition to Lost - Pure Ecstasy !
Finally, the C-stage in the series: On the complete other end of the stadium was once again a platform for the musicians had been set up. It was time for some acoustic performances on the "starry sky" by emporgereckten phones. The nicest surprise was the wonderfully wacky dedicated to Michael Jackson "Billie Jean" Cover!
Back on the main stage sounded Gaudy dazzling glare of the rock 'politics' is slowly but surely the end of a mad concert book. But at least one highlight was yet to: Back to the chorus of "Lovers in Japan" Hundreds of thousands of paper butterflies were fired into the air, whirled through the spotlight and hinabregneten on stage and the audience - that was one of the best moments for me for a long time, quite honestly.
Have been But that should not: At the end of the last encore ( "Life in Technicolor II") was fired a magnificent fireworks display over the roof of the Spirit Arena. We cheered, clapped, enjoying the last moments, the grateful bows and the beckoning of the band members who left after more than two hours on stage. Chris Martin would say later, incidentally, according to coldplay.com that this evening for him was one of the best concerts ever! Und das heißt was... And that means something ... dass es etwas besonderes war, spürten wir alle auch. that there was something special, we all felt it. Ich danke Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion und Guy Berryman für dieses wunderbare Erlebnis. I thank Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman for this wonderful experience. For the devout Schmusesongs, for the rocking moments, for the colorful surprises, for the friendly and humorous manner and the high musical quality. Diesen Abend werde ich nie vergessen! This evening I will never forget!
