It has been about 3 weeks since I saw Coldplay in concert at the Saengar Theater in New Orleans, LA and I am still walking around with a smile on my face from the memory of the most amazing night of my entire life. I live in New Orleans, and the Saengar was the perfect place for them to perform. It is a gorgeous theater that makes it easier for entertainers to establish a more intimate connection with the audience instead of being in an arena. The ceiling was lined with lights that resembled stars on a dark night, perfect to set the mood for the band's first US hit, "Yellow".

The concert sold out fast, and I was lucky to be able to get an eighth row floor ticket that was directly in the center. The show was absolutely breathtaking, and everyone I could see was standing up and singing along with Chris. The lineup for the night included:

Politik Clocks One I Love The Scientist In my Place Yellow Spies Trouble Everything's not Lost Don't Panic Shiver God put a smile upon your face Warning Sign Daylight Moses Ladder to the Sun

They planned on ending the concert an hour earlier, but the crowd managed to get the band to play more after cheering for them to come back. I was disappointed that they did not choose to play "Green Eyes" and "A Rush of Blood to the Head", but I got over that fast because I noticed someone famous was there in the middle of the concert. Gweneth Paltrow was standing in the balcony during a couple of songs, but everyone was so absorbed in the music that she was only noticed by a few people including myself. Listening to Coldplay's music has always given me a sense of hope, but seeing all of those different people come together and sing during "Everything's Not Lost" was one of the most moving experiences I have ever had. People were hugging, kissing, swaying, and holding cell phones up in the air during the song. The sense of unity in the audience I felt that night was indescribable, and Chris seemed to genuinely care about the audience.

The hilight of my night was seeing Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin up-close and-personal after the concert ended. I knew that this might be the only time they performed in New Orleans, so I talked to a bunch of people that had backstage passes from our local radio station and security guards and found out the location of their tour buses. There were two buses in the front of the entrance of the building that were "decoys" to confuse fans into waiting at that location, but they really had buses waiting for them in the back of the theater. Chris Martin came up to us and thanked us all for coming, and Gweneth waved to us from the step of the bus, told us hi, and blew a kiss to everyone. The whole time Chris autographed posters and shirts she watched and smiled. Gweneth is as just as gorgeous and amazing in real life as she is depicted as on television. Chris Martin looked at me and smiled when I asked him to sign my poster, and replied with a simple, "OK, Cool." They both seemed like very real, down to earth people.

If anyone has a chance to go see Coldplay live, take it. Expect to have the most amazing concert experience of your life, and expect not to be able to describe how it was to people who weren't there with you. The band has truly touched my life and reached me in a way that I never thought music could.
