Having waited 10 months to see coldplay live and in the flesh, i must say it was definatley worth the wait! After lining up at the gate for numerous hours, we became well liked by the security guards for our dedication and love for coldplay and thats what helped us get our 5th row standing position from the stage! And what a site it was, we felt as if we could just reach out and grab Chris Martin's hands!
Rod Laver Arena began to get to its full capacity with a few seats remaining, and the touring artists, Australian based Youth Group began to rev the crowd. There was then a changeover to prepare for Coldplay, (by this time the stadium was packed) and the piano in which Chris Martin was going to perform on was brought out with the three letters in green bold MTF - Make Trade Fair were featured on the side.
The lights went out, and the crowd began to go crazy. Lights flashed, and Chris, Will, Jonny and Guy all walked out onto the stage creating a glimpse that many people will remember forever. For many, it was their first sight and sound of Coldplay!
Their first song performed was sqaure 1, and no one was shy to scream at the top of their lungs already. A number of songs were played from their album x and y, and a few old favourties! A crowd pleaser being politik when chris gave the crowd the chance to sing without any professional back up " Give me love over, love over, love over this", afterwards commenting on our great singing skills!
Overall i must say, it was all totally worth it, the wait, the money, the queing up, the dehydration while jumping and singing along to the vocals of Chris Martin, and im sure that from any seating or standing position that the concert would have been a lifetime experience that anyone would walk away from, smiliing and raving on about to anyone who missed out!
Awesome performance boys, loved it, absolutley loved it! Will be constantly watching the movies i filmed on my camera over and over again until the dvd hits the stores!
Coldplay your unbelievably AWESOME! Couldn't have dreamt of anything better! -

well what can i say.
the boys put on the best performance i ever imagined. after a 40 minute wait. the crowd started to become unsettled. youth group set the concert off to a good start but i noticed people were thriving for coldplay. setting the show off with a all timer 'sqaure one' the crowd went wild as they played like there was no tomorro. the show kept getting better and better.
much effort was put into the concert, including yellow balloons falling from the roof whilst playing the massive hit hit ' yellow '. Johnny Cash's number one hit Ring Of Fire was performed which broke up the theme abit. but was awesum reguardless.
waiting over 8 months for this concert and have it come and go in the period of 3 hours is frustrating but it was worth every second waited. every cent spent payed off. and every second will be remembered. outstanding performance boys. well done. -adele xx

I just got back myself. I think tonight's was a better show, I felt anyway. The inclusion of Trouble was a big plus for me personally. How You See the World came at the expense of Don't Panic, and Swallowed In The Sea made way for the tribute to Kylie Minogue with "Can't Get You Outta My Head".
Hell I think Youth Group were better tonight as well.
Coldplay played for longer, and there was a bit more crowd banter. He ran right past me when he went into the stands, and at the end when they took a bow, he blew a kiss and said Happy Birthday to a girl with a sign in the front row of the lower section.
Setlist was something like:
Square One Politik Yellow Speed Of Sound God Put A Smile Upon Your Face What If White Shadows How You See The World The Scientist Til Kingdom Come Ring Of Fire Trouble Clocks Talk
Can't Get You Outta My Head In My Place Fix You
Heck yes.

One morning after the concert, I still find it hard to contain the palpable wave of excitement im feeling. The elevating vocals of Chris Martin is still ringing in my head (oh well, maybe also because im still playing Coldplay tracks on my iTunes right now).
The concert last night was a blast. Unbelievably sophisticated lightings, laser and visual effects accompanied the approx. 90 minutes of ultimate musical experience to last a life time. Other highlights included the humongous yellow balloons with gold confetti dropping from the top of the arena to the the audience (waiting to be popped to sprinkle confetti on all of us) when the crowd pleaser 'yellow' was sung; poignant ballads like 'the scientist' and 'trouble' were performed with utter passion and gusto; not forgetting the heart-pumping, ear drum-bursting beats of 'politik' and 'god put a smile on your face'; the brilliant and easy listening of the acoustics of 'til kingdom come' and the tribute to Johnny cash 'ring of fire'.
The British quartet kicked off the concert with the haunting melody of 'square one' before defying the title of the tour, delving into 'politik', taken from the band's first success story called 'Parachutes' (2000).
A tradition of all Coldplay concerts was carried on obviously in this one, with each one of the band members snapping random pictures of the crowd and then throwing the disposable cameras into the crowd for 4 lucky fans.
Chris commented on the corny name of the location. Of course, Rod Laver Arena is located on Batman Avenue. The acoustic part of the concert brought the whole awesome foursome together to the front podium with Will (the drummer) on the keyboards, Guy (the bassist) playing the harmonica while Jonny and Chris rocked the guitar and the vocals in 'Til Kingdom Come' and 'Ring of Fire', a tribute to the late Johnny Cash.
Following that was the wonderful medley of the awesome tracks 'Clocks' and 'Talk': the piano-playing Chris Martin rocked his chair front and back in enthusiasm which added dramatic and entertaining effects to their live rendition of 'Clocks'. the visuals and laser were also amazingly executed, enough to make the audience feel like part of a Coldplay music video. Then the band strummed out the track,'Talk', where Chris's signature hand-in-the-air stagger dance sent the crowd into a ballistic and deafening roar of excitement.
I swear i've never felt closer to an MTV music awards experience than this.
The band then retreated, The lights came up.the crowd stayed on. ENCORE ENCORE! The crowd chanted... The lights dimmed once again...sending the crowd to exhilaration and anticipation for the band's return onto the stage.
"We wouldn't have heard of Melbourne without Kylie," Chris said. And they started rocking the opening verse: 'lalalalalalalalala...'lalalalalalalala...'
The whole free standing crowd clapped and sung along to 'I cant getcha outta my head, boy yer more than a ...' (uh hem, chris did mention loadsa times that the crowd singing was fantastic).
The second song during the encore ,'In My Place',begun with a mellow start before Chris sprinted right to the back rows of the 15,000 people crowd to acknowledge and mingle with the fans that have felt left out the whole time at the extreme back.
The 4-man acapella, gibson-brothers-inspired ending verse of 'Fix You' closed the performance in a perfect mood. After arms-over-one-another's-shoulders long and sincere bows displaying their humbleness and gratitude, the band retreated backstage. The crowd left pleased, evacuating the arena with the songs replaying in their heads and on their lips, still itching for more.
call me crazy but i thought of going again for tonight's show.

40 year old male - took my family to your concert last night 2/7/06 as we are all major fans of your music. Really enjoyed your concert.
But, sooooooo disappointed that you did not play Hardest Part. Couldnt believe it as I think that it is a superb song, particularly uplifting ! Few of your choices were a little surprising and not well known to the crowd. I would have thought that you could have gauged from the applause that this was the case (and you couldve played Hardest Part instead). Anyway, still disappointed ! Interested to know why you didnt play it given its recent release as a single. Press even reported their surprise ? By the way, Fix You was just awesome !
First time I've felt strong enough to comment to a band.. Felt a little cheated.

WIthout a doubt the best concert I have ever heard in my entire life! Coldplay's sound is just amazing and they put so much effort into their music it is fantastic and much appreciated from a die hard Coldplay fan. Although the night was overshadowed for me by over zealous security in Rod Laver Arena who said to many people sitting near me and including me to not take any movie clips on your camera and were even stopping people taking photos. This was absolutely absurd as there were many people all around Rod Laver Arena taking photos and even Coldplay took photos of the crowd.
These security people were highly unprofessional in my opinion and they somewhat ruined the experience I had and I am sure many others who were trying to snap a happy memory of this magnificent performane by Coldplay.
Coldplay are the best band in the world!!! Thank you guys so much.
[Thanks Travis]
