For xmas my lovely girlfriend picked up what I consider to be the best xmas gift I've ever received...Coldplay tickets! Yes that is my best xmas gift...even better than the Thriller album by Michael Jackson I received when I was 5 but that is still # 2 on my list. So where was I Oh yes Coldplay tickets. The concert took place the night before our one year anniversary so she decided to make a day of it. Planned a one night get away to New Hampshire (manchvegas to be exact) and it all began on Monday April 3rd. We get inside and find our seats. Richard Ashcroft was playing while we were getting nestled in. Richard Ashcroft is the former lead singer of the Verve. It was good. Bitter Sweet Symphony was the last song he played which had the crowd erupt... which I believe is the only hit his band had. Not quite sure.

So after his set was over we waited a good 45 minutes for Coldplay to begin what I would consider the best show I've ever seen. The reason I would say this is because A) they played every song I hoped to hear B) They had one heck of a light show. They definitely took a long time to include some great visuals! And C) I was sharing it with my girlfriend Lisa.

So they began with Square One from their newest cd X and Y and from the first moment they hit the stage it was just mind blowing. The visuals such as the red laser beams to the yellow balloons filled with yellow confetti that coincided with the music just a mind bending experience. Thumbs up to all the people who dropped acid or ecstasy prior to the show because they should've / would've enjoyed the show!

So here is the set list (as close to correct as I could come) due to I had a pretty good buzz and while trying to keep text messages in my phone with not remembering a few songs names I would instead put the lyrics. I think I did a pretty good job considering.

Square one Politik Yellow Speed of Sound God put a smile upon your face What if Beautiful world White Shadows The Scientist Til Kingdom come Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash Tribute) Trouble Clocks Talk

Encore: Swallowed in the Sea In my place Fix you

For anyone that ever has the chance to see Coldplay... whether you are a fan or not will undoubtedly have one of the best times. My hats off to the guys in Coldplay because they truly one of the best groups today!!

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. This was my first Coldplay show even though I've been a fan from the beginning. I was very pleased that they performed some of their older songs and didn't merely play the X&Y pieces. (I wish they had done Shiver, but oh well, when you have so many great songs, you can't do them all.) Ring of Fire was unexpected and GREAT!

During Yellow, these huge yellow balloons came out of the ceiling (I think?) filled with shiny confetti-like stuff and when the balloons broke, the confetti went all over the place. Then Chris did a belly flop onto one of the balloons that ended up on the stage and he sort of bounced (everyone was laughing) and then he got off and did a second flop and that time it popped. It was hysterical. It was so obvious they were having a good time. Chris' energy is absolutely amazing. I can't say for sure how many songs they did for their encore, but it seemed like 4 or 5 which was a real bonus. The only complaint I have is that the opening act was terrible. It was surprising that a band like Coldplay would have this band opening for them. We didn't even know who they were and if they announced their name, we couldn't make it out because the sound was so horrid. I really hope Coldplay comes back to NH (this was the first time here...!!)
