All fan reviews have been submitted to us by the members of Coldplaying.com[1], unless stated otherwise.

Okay guys, I just skip the three hundred pages of "OMFG OH MA GOAWD HOLY SHITCAKES!" and start with a little review.

first of all,GAH!!!! So I'm sitting at Julia's (Dark_Sofie) home infront of her PC, and we both went to THE MOST FUCKING AWESOME CONCERT in our life We arrived at the Köln Arena at about 3:30pm, and the entry was really empty. I mean, there were only about 6 people or so. AND IT WAS COLD MAN! I only had a thin coldplay tshirt on xD Well, we more or less cuddled together and waited for the security guys to let us in. We quickly became kinda 'friends' with other people standing around there, they were really nice So, the doors opened at 6pm, and still, there weren't that much people at our gate. We showed our tickets and were pushed into the building. BUT I have to mention, BEFORE that happened, a few of these security people walked around with weird yellow bracelets. We asked them "What are they for?" and they were like:"Aw, nothing important" So we went in and suddenly, everything went really fast: There was a huge crowd infront of the main entry to the hall, and everybody was pushing and trying to get in at first. Then a few of the tour people said to us, we had to move the other way Confusing, I tell you! Then we were again squished together, and SUDDENLY, those people who got a yellow wristlet went past us really fast, and one of these people who we met at first and were friends with asked them "Hey, where are you going?!" and one of these guys said:"Well, we're going to the first block of the concert hall, because we have these yellow things here"... in other words, the security people just handed them out RANDOMLY, no matter if you were waiting infront of the arena for 12 hours or 12 minutes!!! I mean, seriously, WTF!? That was so F***** unfair! Fortunately, one nicely woman we met before, said to us, that there was still a woman outside with a few bracelets left, and we put everything on one cart, LEFT the whole building, went out of our save place (we already stood at the entry) and went outside, got nearly pushed out because it wasn't allowed to go outside, but THANK GOD we arrived at the woman, she gave us the bracelets (they were only 1000 for random people, who had the luck to get them, WE TOO YEAHHRR) and we went back inside.

We arrived at our old spot, moved slowly to the entry and RAN inside, and the tour people screamed after us :" HEY LADIES, DON'T RUN!" Well we were shocked, then we moved reeeaaallly slow... AND RAN AGAIN AHAH! So, we arrived, and now the most epic thing comes, AT THE VERY NEAREST PLACE at the stage. Only 2 people before us standing, we had a perfect sight! We were on the left side on the stage, right infront of Jonny, WOHO

okay, back to the concert! We stood there at the very front, and we had really much space around us! Nobody was pushing or angry, everything was nice, quiet and relaxed. We sat down there for an hour, looking at the roadies who were everywhere. Then the first band came on, it was okay, well, we stood right infront of the bass box, so we only listened to a loud *BOOM BADABOOMBOM* the whole time They played a few rock songs, nice for the warm up, and THEEENNNN....

...the arena darkened! We listened to a Waltz (I think?) and I was like:"Oooh yeah, now it begins!" and THEN I saw Roadie #42 walking over the stage! He played a little bit on Chris' keyboard and laughed, then he went over AT OUR PLACE to the corner of the stage and placed there a little camera or something like that! I think, well I HOPE, that he will post a little video of the beginning of the show, maybe Julia and me will be on the vid then, yay

Roadies dissappeard, the giant curtain moved down, magicballs over our heads, roadies in the light machines hanging above our heads (it looked just crazy) and then LIT went out of the big sound boxes. The arena went bonkers, and we too of course!

Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will started the show really awesome, Chris was jumping around (as always ^^) and well, IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE! Because it was our first Coldplay concert, we can't really concentrate on everythig now! I will just write down the most important things which I kept in my mind, okay?

Those songs here are NOT in order, because my brain is pudding right now So they played LIT, Violet Hill, Clocks, SOS, Strawberry swing, VLV, GPASUYF (techno version), Hardest Part (piano), Talk (again this remix on the funky light stage), Postcards from far away, cemetries of london, 42, reign of love, then up in the arena, they played The scientist, Death will never conquer me, Lost! LIJ, Death and all his friends, and they played an Encore, YELLOW!

Chris also spoke a little bit german, and said, that his german is.. well.. VERY bad He sounded so cute! And he said "Unglaublich!" (unbelievable!) when everybody was singing this "Lalalalalalaleyyyy" of CoL, his face went -> Awesome! Ah yeah, I forgot to mention in my place, Chris again introduced Jonny as his best friend, and when Chris walked down the long catwalk, he was rolling around there, HAHA so funny (I think he layed/sit/rolled over there at the end of Viva la Vida, and he animated us all to keep the OOOH OOHO OOOH and he was enjoying it, while laying on the ground)

Oh dear, THE BANNER! Totally forgot to tell you about it!

YES we got the banner into the arena, YES we held it up, and YES, FUCKIN YES Jonny saw it and gave us his *dies of cuteness*-smile

We held it up in the beginning of in my place, and wanted to keep it up, but then somebody patted me on the shoulder and we put the banner back down, because people couldn't see a crap xD Well I wanted Chris to see it too, but well, you can't get everything!

About videos/fotos: Our camera wasn't the best, I only took fotos on at the beginning of the show, because the lights made everything worse. I only have a few photos for you, sorry about that But I think, people with better cameras will show you great quality photos soon!

Okay I'm trying to upload our photos now!

[thanks Twisted mind]

I'm to tired to write a review this evening, all I'm gonna say are three things:

1) It was the best night of my life (everybody says that, but it's true!)

2) Chris smiled at me in a strange way (I'll tell you tomorrow)

We were standing in the 2nd row just in front of Jonny and Chris. I had a great view, though I'm not very tall... I went crazy when LiT started. The fact that they were standing only 2,3 meters in front of me was unbelievable. They started with Violet Hill and then played Clocks, which was amazing as always. In my place was one of my favorite songs yesterday, Chris got really close to us and Jonny smiled. The next songs were Speed of Sound and CoL. Chris was like "Unglaublich, unglaublich..." and then he laughed in that strange way.. like wohohoho (I have a video of that ) I'd never thought Chinese sleep chant sounds so good live! 42 was next, and you saw Chris singing on the big screen in the back. It was amazing! After the piano-part jumped off his piano-seat backwards (!?), well, it looks like it in my video. The next song was Reign of Love, wow!! But they didn't play the whole song. And Yes, i have a video of that! Thought there wouldn't be so many videos of it, so i recorded it. (I have like 18 videos of the evening, but not always the whole song.) The crowd went crazy when they played Fix You! Everybody was singing along! Strawberry Swing was good aswell, but i prefer the album-version. It doesn't sound so good live, imo. I had the feeling Chris smiled at me in this song, but I wasn't sure. He looked in my direction like 5 sec. or so, but it seemed much longer. After that i was sure, that i'd been dreaming, why should he stare at me such a long time? But after the concert my mother asked me why chris had been looking at me in such a strange way and i was like wtf? Then they played on the b-stage and I couldn't see them anymore. Chris showed us his new dance He said something like "It's very easy and i looks stupid, but it's my new dance.." or so. The Talk- and Gpasuyf- dance version were really good, but what i loved more was the The Hardest Part-Piano version. My eyes fillt with tears when I heard it. It sounded so great!!! I've got a video of Postcards from far away, too. Nice song! When they played Vlv, EVERYBODY was dancing and singing along. I think it had the best vibes (??). Lost! was amazing aswell. Scientist and Death will never conquer were nothing special imo, they were at the c stage in the crowd. Politik, Lovers in Japan and Daahf were all three absolutely amazing. I was dancing all the time. Chris said something like "This is probably our last song" and when they came back with yellow "Okay, it wasn't the last song." Yellow was really good and I took a lot of pictures then, because of the lights... Then it ended with The Escapist, but it was only the album-version, not chris singing live.

[thanks echolot]

Well, first of all the T-shirts were sooo expansive, but anyway I bought one. (30 € each). So we went to our seats, when 10 minutes later Albert Hammond Jr startet to play, and imo they were great! They played for like 40-45 minutes. After them the guitars and drums got tuned by some people, which took like 30 minutes.

There was a Jay-Z song in the background and some classical famous song. A pitty that I dont know the name of the title. But it was just sooooo funny when suddenly a guy stood up from his seat in the front of us and acted like he was conducting the hole KolnArena and all people in the upper seats were clapping and cheering for him, UNBELIEVEABLE really.

After that Life in Technicolor startet and the guys ran up the stage and the obligatory curtains liftet up. Chris later spoke some german sentences, which he did really great actually.

After song like Clocks, In My Place and Speed of Sound, they played Reign of Love, which was wonderful.

Chris also said that our background singing after Fix You was, "so fucking incredible today"

He played The Hardest Part and Letters from far Away on piano on the b-stage and right after they startet Viva La Vida, when Chris ran back to the a-stage.

After DAAHF, their officially "last song", they came for an encore to play finally Yellow.

It was not the night of my life.

I felt totally different than I did back in 2005. It was not that touching. The show was incredible, yeah, but maybe the fact that there was a big big big show didn't make it as touching as I thought it would be. But it made me happy. Really really happy. I danced a lot.....

But let's start at the beginning.

everything started with anger. I don't have to explain the problem, because Thalia already explained it. We were not lucky enough to get one of these yellow wristbands, so we stood right behind the 2nd barrier (on Jonny's side). At first I was angry, but then it was ok. We saw everything.

At 8pm Albert Hammond Jr. hit the stage. He was ok. Quite loud, but the music was better than I expected. I took the time to get the right settings on my camera. And it didn't work. All pics I took were crap. You couldn't see anything. That made me a bit disappointed, but it was ok at that moment.

Mr Hammond left the stage quite fastly and the roadies started to prepare the last things for the big show. The curtain went down and the crowd started clapping and all that audience stuff. And then there was this Jay - Z song first and the waltz afterwards. And then there was Colplay. The first tones of "Life in Technicolor" appeared and the curtain went down. The crowd was going mad! Right after that they played "Violett Hill". Can't remember if there was anything special about that. And then there was "Clocks". How long did I wait for this moment? Listen to this song live with this great laser light show. I loved it, but it didn't blow me away as much as I thought. "In my place" was great. First there was this Jonny smile (awwwwww) and then I took out my camera to try it again.

I seriously couldn't believe it. My camera was working! I took the first pic of Jonny and became incredibly happy as I saw it. I jumped in the air had a big big smile upon my face and showed the pic to my sister. Haha how happy I was only because of a pic....

"Speed of sound" was the next song. Really good. The big balls came down the ceiling and there were certain patterns on them. And then: "Cemeteries of London" Mr. Guy Berryman's big performance at the piano. He sat down and my sister said to me "uuuhuuuuuhuuuu he is going to play the piano" (note: we always had to look at him, because he is so funny for some reason and sexyyy of course...), so he sat down and started playing really concentrated and then after 3 seconds he stood up (the piano was still playing) and sat down again and continued "playing"...we couldn't stop laughing

"Chinese Sleep Chant" and "42" followed. Can't say anything special about that....same as "reign of love"... when they started playing "Fix you" the crowd was getting crazy. Everybody was singing along. It was a great feeling. "Strawberry Swing" another great moment for Berryman. Will and him started clapping (this motivation clapping for the audience) and OMG this pose was so unique. Guy Berryman the coolness himself standing there and clapping. My sister and me couldn't stop laughing, because he was looking as if they said before the show: "Ok so we've got Jonny playing the guitar and Chris singing. But Will and Guy what should you do meanwhile?Ahhhh I have an idea, you two clap." and Guy thinks "whaaaa no I'm not bothered to do so. Stupid clapping...mimimimimiiiiii" haha . This man is THE man!(haha I love him).Oh and btw. except for this clapping the song was really boring... Then they went to the b-stage. Unfortunately we were standing on the wrong side, because they played on Guy's side. I really enjoyed the new versions of "GPASUYF" and "Talk" and I had the feeling as if the audience didn't. Everyone around me was just standing there and watching and I was dancing. I liked the electronical touch of it (where can I find an audio of this?). My sister said she didn't like it at all. Chris piano session was really nice. "The Hardest part" is much much better in this version and "Postcards from far aways" was sweet, too. Chris invented a new dance before thp. The duck dance. He said he looked stupid anyways and with this dance he did even more, but he kept doing it. It looked really funny. "Viva la vid" blew away everyone. For sure. There is not much to say about this. It was so energetic, esp. with those kettledrums. Same as "Lost".

After that Chris said goodbye. I was like WTF? That's it???it surely wasn't.

Nobody knew where they did go. And suddenly there was this spotlight somewhere in the audience. It was incredible. They were standing in the middle of the crowd (not really in the middle) and played their acoustic set....

sorry for the quality, but they were really far away, as yu can see in the last pic. In this set there was my first highlight of the show. My first "touching" highlight. "The scientist". This was the first moment where I could have started crying. I didn't expect that it would touch me this much. I thought I'd like the normal version more. "Death will never conquer" was sooooo sweet. Will is a great singer and so talented. You just had to dance and smile during this song

They went down again and there was this strange Viva la vda remix. well, it was a bit too much techno. "Politik" was amazing as usual.

AND THEN: "Lovers in Japan". The best moment at this night. I never really listened to this on CD. But it just blew me away. And I think I'll NEVER forget the moment when the butterflies came down. First everyone tried to catch them. I loved it, I felt like a child who wanted to get the most butterflies. And then there was such a magical moment: I looked in the air, the butterflies were flying on my face. It was dark, the music was in the background and all I saw were these butterflies. I can't describe the magic of this moment. I had tears in my eyes. I wanted to cry, but I could stop myself from doing it. It didn't feel anything than happiness in this moment and I wished it would never have endend....

"Death and all his friends" was amazing. Same as "Yellow" ...the crowd went crazy again.

It was over so fastly. But I wasn't sad when it was. I still felt this happiness.

To sum it up: Amazing, perfect show (but not as touching as former shows). Nice moments. "Lovers in Japan" my personal highlight.

I don't really know what else I should tell you, it's quite hard to write a review if you are not as blown away as others maybe are...

Man of the night: Mr. Guy Berryman (imo)

[thanks Gitta Rensolo]

My highlights yesterday:

Cemeteries Of London - Chris' incredible voice performance and the instrumental part are much better then on the album.

Politik - fantastic, one of my best 3 CP songs but listen to it live gives me a happiness that is hard to describe.

All in all a great concert, in some parts to loud but the song list was perfect. I just missed Amsterdam and AROBTTH but they can't play all the stuff

[thanks tesseract]

Oh, what an amazing night. It was such a brilliant performance. I'm a bit sad, they still play their 90-minutes set after 4 albums. But anyway, I was very happy when I left the arena and that's a quite good sign, isn't it?

[thanks akindofmagic]

It all started as we arrived in Cologne. I bought the tickets on eBay, that`s why I got a ticket for the “vip-carpark”. My friend and me got out the car and had to walk over a kind of red carpet to get into the arena. Everywhere were young women in red uniforms who told us where to go, I didn`t expect this vip-treatment, but it was great (we´re both 15-years old, we were the youngest in this area. A friendly lady told us how to get to the “Backstage”-restaurant (we got the two tickets for the restaurant in eBay, too). It was quite fancy. We had both Coldplay-shirts on, the other people (all around thirty years old) wore more dressy stuff and we caught the attraction. J We even got Cola in vine-glasses! After the dinner we went to our seats (Block 206, Row 10). We sat down and Albert Hammond Jr. started to play his second song, as two guys came and told us, we were sitting on their seats! He was right, we sat in Block 207 but now we had to find our seats in the dark and loud arena. (But now we had even better view!) There were two young women next to us, in Block 206 but they had also been in 207 before, they did the same mistake as we didJ. Albert Hammond jr. was cool, I was at the concert in Mannheim, too, and that´s why I already knew some of his songs. The light show was nothing special, but the guys were good as supporting band. When they were gone, we went out again to buy a t-shirt and some stickers and buttons. The lady at the merchandise-shop wasn`t very busy, she discussed for minutes with a woman and her son, because he wanted the shirt with the Album-cover on, but they thought it would be glorifying violence :/ anyway, we finally got the shirt and went back to our seats. And then the concert began. I decided I should better record the audio and NOT take too many videos and photos as I did at Mannheim (it turned out to be a good decision, we´re listening to it right now J, ask me if you want me to upload). The lights went down and the band entered the stage. The crowd went crazy when we could hear the first tones of Life in Technicolor. They were playing behind the huge curtain, as usual, and the album cover with the French Revolution was shown behind them. It was a great moment for me, everyone stood up at once and moved to the music. Violet Hill was the second song (I know the correct setlist, because I recorded the concert, believe me ). The curtain was pulled up and the guys were jumping all over the stage. Everyone in the arena sang along (later we noticed that we had our seats between quite boring people, one women even complaint because I was jumping! If I`ll ever see her again, I`ll … rrrggghhhh). Chris said “Guten Abend, meine Freunde” (= good evening, my friends) and… …Clocks started right away. They used the green lights and the crowed went crazy again. And the magic balls were used the first time I love them! In my Place was the next song, Chris said something about his best friend Jonny, and they were laying over each other in the end on the b-stage Chrissy said “Dankeschön” (= thank you)… …and Speed of Sound began. The crowed was still singing and the lucky guys in the middle of the arena were dancing (next time I`ll definitely buy tickets for “Stehplätze”, the people sitting are way too boring in my opinion). The magic balls shown in all colours and looked like they were turning J Chris said “Wir freuen uns, in Köln zu sein! Entschuldigung, dass mein Deutsch so schlecht ist.“ (= We´re happy to be in Cologne! Sorry for my bad German.) Cemeteries of London was the next song, one of my favourite songs, btw.. They were showing the album cover and the light made everything look blue. Chinese Sleep Chant followed, with red magic balls and yellow lights. The next song was 42. Chris sat on his piano and his face was at first shown on the big screen behind the stage. He looked like in an old movie, all in black and white. When the song became more “exciting”, they used many lights and everything was bright.

[thanks *Becky*]

Media Reviews

Besonders energisch statt introvertiert

(kag)
